Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

[ buffy does what she usually does during these arrivals. she leaves her door open -- just in case someone needs to talk some last minute shop -- and sits on the edge of the bed that isn't really her bed, going through her weapons. most are scattered on the bed around her. the red scythe, a few swords, a crossbow, a mace.

this time there is also a (incredibly hopeful, really) carafe of coffee sitting on one of the room's tables with two overturned cups. ]

[Their rooms aren't all that far away from each other, given the last names, and Jack knocks softly once he arrives. He had gone calmly when called, not resisting at all. You might be able to flirt with Destiny or persuade her or fool her for a little while, but you can't resist her in the end. That was a lesson Tia Dalma had taught him.]

'Allo, Buffy?

oh gosh no worries.

[herotypical]

[ she is checking over the mechanisms of the crossbow when jack knocks. buffy looks up, her fingers trapped in the work and so she stands with the weapon balanced oddly on her hip. the going is a little delicate but it won't take her long to finish. ]

Jack. [ there is an internal struggle over just how she should play this. ] Come in.

[The pirate swaggers in in his usual way and eyes that crossbow. He hasn't seen her since the night of the lesson.]

Ready to shoot things I see.

Believe it or not, I'm taking a piece of advice from Dawn. She said something about focusing on the bow 'cause you don't really need the strength in that department. So, meet plan B. [ buffy carefully lifts the crossbow and aims it (demonstratively) at the back of the room, checking the sights and alignment. with a sigh, she lowers it and begins fiddling with the tension again. ]

There's coffee on the table if you want a cup.

[Jack doesn't make a move toward the coffee, yet.] Wise woman, your Dawn. Has she arrived yet?

[herotypical]

[ buffy nods because although dawn hasn't tagged in yet she certainly would not have transported sans her sister. ] I'm trying not to crowd her. Operative word being try.

Might I have a look at your weapon, Annie?

[herotypical]

You know crossbows?

[ she holds it out to him. ]

Been shot at with them, haven't I? [Jack takes it from her and examines the mechanism, taking aim, as Buffy did, at the wall.] How fast does she reload?

It's finicky, but I'm fast. I use the style a lot back home. A projectile wooden stake? Kinda ideal for my line of work.

[ she's hovering. to solve this, she falls back to the coffee and pours herself a cup. lots of sugar and lots of cream. ]

[ what do you mean, the weekend from hell didn't make this a late tag-in and i didn't start my own thread late either. dawn will just be taking advantage of that open door, now. ]

So. This place is kind of ritzy, huh?

[ she stands when dawn enters, shrugging her shoulders. seeing dawn here is painful. the niceness of the hotel can only remind her of the carnage they will be walking into. ]

[ trying to make light of everything is keeping her nerves down. mostly. ]

And round the clock magical room service. [ jack's coffee cup is still on the table. she turns to tidy this up, now. ] Want anything? I could...we could -- you know. Like old times with the doughnuts and the lattes and the trying to forget that the world might end before noon.

Think they deliver? Because I could eat like, maybe two tiny bites of Pizza Hut pan crust before letting the nerves rule my stomach again. [ she shrugs, ruefully. ]

Stuff your pockets with granola bars. [ an empty stomach doesn't lead to the healthiest chance for, well, anything on the field. ] That's what I used to do for all-nighters, once the gas stations closed and I got hungry on the go. That way, if your nerves...[ but the line is too pretty she can't quite spin it anymore.

oh dawn. buffy shoves more weapons aside so that there is enough room for two to sit on the best. not even ten minutes before her sister had arrived, buffy had handed off her precious bargaining locket to someone else for safe-keeping. to keep herself safe, for if the general shows on this week's field then buffy does not want the temptation of negotiating with him. not while dawn's out there, too. ]

Give me half an hour and an arsenal, I'll stuff my face. You know me, I never met a bowl of popcorn covered in frosting I didn't like. [ beat. ] But I'll add the granola bars, too. Maybe a non-cumbersome bag or something, for extras.

[ she sits, dropping her head into her hands for a moment and pressing hard at her temples. ] I liked this place better when it was all cheesecake and flirting with Archie.

[ she touches a hand to her sister's shoulder. ]

The village's pretty good at playing innocuous and you know I'll be the first to give them hell about dragging you into this. But right now we're just gonna focus on the getting through and then the getting back there with the cheesecake and the flirting and the...flirting? So we're admitting it's flirting, now?

You didn't hear? [ way to stall, dawn. ]

[ she might have been too busy making out with jack sparrowdoing slayerly important things to have noticed the fail-filtered poem. ]

Hear...hear what? [ oh god dawn you're not going to tell her you're pregnant, are you? because that is possibly her worst nightmare. right up there with repeats of the master. ]
