Your characters are shuffling off to their rooms. Each room has their name beside it and only they can open the door. People can only enter their room if they're allowed in (or they leave the door open). Characters will find any requested items in their room already. If they have a requested vehicle, there will be another door in their room that will take them to the hangar to inspect their equipment.

[Jack doesn't make a move toward the coffee, yet.] Wise woman, your Dawn. Has she arrived yet?

[herotypical]

[ buffy nods because although dawn hasn't tagged in yet she certainly would not have transported sans her sister. ] I'm trying not to crowd her. Operative word being try.

[all7seas]

Might I have a look at your weapon, Annie?

[herotypical]

You know crossbows?

[ she holds it out to him. ]

[all7seas]

Been shot at with them, haven't I? [Jack takes it from her and examines the mechanism, taking aim, as Buffy did, at the wall.] How fast does she reload?

[herotypical]

It's finicky, but I'm fast. I use the style a lot back home. A projectile wooden stake? Kinda ideal for my line of work.

[ she's hovering. to solve this, she falls back to the coffee and pours herself a cup. lots of sugar and lots of cream. ]

[all7seas]

Mmhmm. [He lays the weapon against his shoulder and looks back at her. Would the shifts interfere with this speed?] Mine? Black.

...Please.

[herotypical]

[ what she hasn't told anyone non-sunnydale beyond derek is that the shifts would interfere with both her speed and her aim. she won't be as terrible as she had been back during the test on her eighteenth birthday -- since then, she has had directed non-slayer training. but it won't be pretty.

still, she is keen on maintaining the facade of okayness. ] Taking the magic word for a spin, hmm? [ she holds out an untampered with cup of joe. ]

[all7seas]

[He takes it, then moves quickly back, placing the crossbow on the bed. Their conversation of the other night is still on his mind, and it takes a lot to appear calm about things. To match her nonchalance, when frowning and pacing are in order.] Mmm.

I suppose I should return to my room; look over the charts.

[Looking over charts was always helpful in stressful situations. It gave the mind an outlet.]

[herotypical]

Stay. Finish your coffee first. [ she urges, pulling a chair out from behind the little table. ] The charts are just gonna be useless about ten minutes into the whole thing and things start going topsy turvy.

Doesn't mean they don't demand a bit of studying.

[He does sit, though, staring at the cooling cup of liquid in his hands.] I've my compass. Will you call me if things turvy?

[herotypical]

[ she sits on the edge of the bed again, across from the chair. would she call him? the crossroads she now sits at involves evolving feelings for the pirate and an obvious bias towards his safety; however, she also has a healthy taste for his strengths and capabilities.

and then there is the part where she is simply concerned for what could happen out there to anyone. together is supposed to be better amongst the muscle. she nods. ] If you'll call me if things get topsy.

[all7seas]

[Jack wouldn't; not where he's going, protecting the clearing squad. There is too much of an unknown element.] Then we have an accord.

[herotypical]

[ she warms her palms on the cup. not drinking -- not yet. ]

I need you to do something for me, Jack. [ her fingers drum. even as she says the words, she isn't sure she should be asking him about this. ]

[all7seas]

Annie?

[herotypical]

I can't risk confronting him if she's on the field, too. [ buffy is, of course, talking about the general and about dawn. she knows how iffy her plan could be and while she can easily risk her own well-being, she isn't about to risk leaving dawn in the battle without her sister.

she digs into her pocket, pulling out that troublesome little gold chain. ] The last time I couldn't hold onto it, I gave it to Bones. Temporarily. But he's still too spun. I trust him with it less than I trust myself. [ she holds it out to jack. ]

You got it fair and square, anyway. Well -- maybe not fair. But I just know I can't have that on me this week. So here's me, removing the temptation.

[all7seas]

You're certain of this? That it is what you want?

[herotypical]

[ she is practically pushing it upon him, before she changes her mind. ]

I won't risk leaving her again. Not like this. [ perhaps next time, if dawn is safe in the village. then she could make that call. ]

[all7seas]

[So he takes it, palming it, making it disappear. Sleight-of-hand.]

Then I'll do it. For you.

[herotypical]

Thank you, Jack.

[ she would have squirreled it away in the room but she hardly trusted the safety involved there. ] Best case scenario? He doesn't even show and this is all me erring on the side of caution.

Best case scenario---he never shows again.

[herotypical]

More like never gonna happen scenario. The big bads never just disappear.

[ finally, she is drinking her coffee. this is an odd space. him and her, carefully clipping around the subject that buffy, at least, can't quite get out of her mind. ]

A little faith, Buffy. [Vague.]

[herotypical]

[ faith is for everyone else. someone has to be the practical pessimist; however, this is a trait she tries to keep from her loved ones from home. ]

Why am I tickled pink over you trying to lecture me on virtues, huh?

[There is rich laughter at this, breaking the tension.]
