You haven't? [...wow. He had climbed that tree really fast for someone who'd never done that before.] You're really good at it.

[But maybe that wasn't very surprising. His older brother was good at a lot of things, after all. Even so, it was a little strange.]

You should come up here. You've climbed trees before, right?

[He uses one hand to steady himself against the tree trunk, then climbs to his feet so he's standing on the branch.]

Of course I've climbed trees before. Way more than you have. [He glances at the trunk of the tree. It definitely wouldn't be difficult to climb up and join him. And, well... he did invite him up.] Be careful, all right?

[With that, he starts climbing up the tree himself. The branch seems to support Albert just fine, but he won't take his chances in case it can't hold up the both of them. So he climbs up to the next branch just above Albert's.]

[Albert watches Caesar climb up, taking note of how Caesar places himself and shifts his weight to get higher up in the tree. He reaches up and just manages to touch the branch that Caesar has chosen.]

This is interesting.

[He looks down at his brother.]

Why do you say that?

You know I'm not so impulsive as to climb a tree like this. And yet I did.

[Can he grasp the branch? He stands on his tiptoes, but no, it's a thick branch.]

You're really enjoying it, too. [And that was definitely unusual. But as long as it wasn't detrimental to his health, there was no reason that he couldn't let him have some fun. At least he wasn't causing a scene where people could see him or something.] You've never even climbed a tree when you were little?

Never. And I believe I was already out of the house by the time you were big enough not to worry the maids with your antics.

[Maybe he should sidle down the branch more? Let's try that.]

Yeah. I believe you were. [He sounds very disinterested when he says that.] I can't believe you've never done this before. It's fun.

I never saw the point. You climb a tree and sit in it. You can sit anywhere. [He still manages to sound nonchalant as he gets further away from the tree trunk, and he can soon enough grasp a skinnier portion of the branch Caesar is on.

...

He pulls himself up and hangs off of it.]

[Caesar watches as Albert does this. He doesn't say anything about it, but it actually makes him nervous. ...it's a strange feeling, when he thinks about it. He never felt nervous when he did things like that.]

What's so different about it now?

It likely has something to do with the experiment. [He sounds a little winded as he continues holding onto branch, looking down from his new vantage point.]

...We're quite high up.

[He was probably right about the experiment having something to do with it. It was kind of a shame—it was neat to see Albert having so much fun doing something like this.]

Are we? I assumed that this is what it is like for you normally. [Another joke. Even if his brother isn't paying attention to them, he still gets a kick out of it.] It'd hurt if you fall.

I'm not going to fall. [He sounds so sure of himself, but he knows he's still in a childish body and it had its limits. It's still a surprise that he can hold on to a branch like this.

He searches for his footing as his arms begin to tire, trying to get his feet firmly on the branch below him again. ...It's a lot harder than it was to lift off the branch.]

I said the same thing. [He looks away from his brother, swinging his feet lightly. He doesn't want his brother to get nervous and fall on accident because he kept watching him.] I only speak from experience, you know.

Of course you do. You would be that impetuous by yourself. [He manages to get one foot onto the branch, and he has to carefully more his hands further up the thick branch so he can firmly plant his other foot.]

As if I'm any less impetuous with you around. [Well. Maybe he is. And he would have been back then, too. But his natural reaction is to just be bitter about it.] Are you bored already?

[His attitude seems to have returned. :|]

I'm concentrating. [There's something of a huff from Albert, as he really doesn't want to prove Caesar right somehow by falling from the tree.

Soon enough, he's back on a broader part of the branch, and he feels confident enough to let go and stretch his arms.]

You're doing fine. [Despite his brother's inexperience, he didn't think he'd fall. The situation still made him nervous, but he was sure he'd be okay.] Besides, if something happens, I'll be the first one to know about it. I can find you some help.

Yes. You can find me help while I suffer from a broken leg or something equally--

[And, perhaps predictably, he slips from the branch as he tries sidling back towards the tree trunk. Fortunately, since he still had his hands above his head, he's able to thrust his arms down and grab onto the branch. There's a thump and childish grunt as he holds on, more surprised than hurt.]

Hey!

[He sees him slip and reaches forward instinctively, though he's far too high to be of any help to him anyway. A sense of relief comes over him when he sees his brother still hanging on, but wow, that was... scary.]

A-are you all right? I think you almost gave me a heart attack!

I-- I'm fine. [Albert wheezes and continues clinging to the branch, trying to judge what to do. This little body already ached, and he tries to catch his breath.

...]

I'm not sure I can pull myself up.

[O-oh dear.]

I'll pull you up. Just hold on, all right?

[He starts climbing down the tree. He steps onto the branch Albert's holding on to, and he uses the trunk of the tree to help him keep his balance. He reaches out to his little big brother.]

I can't help but wonder if you're doing this on purpose!

[Albert blinks several times at the tree branch, tense and all too aware that this is pretty dangerous. In his new body, he could get hurt if he fell out of the tree.

He tries to grab Caesar's hand, missing the first time. With a frustrated sound, he tries again.]

Stop making stupid remarks at times like this!

Stop complaining or I'll let you fall.

[But regardless of whether or not he protests further, Caesar roughly grabs his hand the second time Albert tries to grab it, and he'll start pulling him up. He may not be strong by any means, but his brother is currently small enough that it shouldn't be too much of a problem.]
