EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY!

Who: Everybody! Everybody!
What: It's a beach! There's fruit! Love in the air! Classy private rooms in the mountains!
When: From sunrise to midnight! (AND IT'S TODAY! FEBRUARY 18th!)
Where: Out on the beach, centered around the teleporter/tunnel exit area. But it feels like July out there! Ain't that just the shit?
Summary: Summary? Why does this need a summary. I said everything up there. And then I'm gonna say even more after this. Why do we need this field? Seriously, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Rating: KEEP IT CLEAN, KIDS. Take your dirty smut to an appointments post!

Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

((No, but seriously guys, look at the mod post, you know what to do. Everything you need is there. Mass log post, remember to tag your characters name here, and do your thing.))

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

;3; Good thing he's not trying to be manly...

I am... Professor R-Robert Alexander Hastings...

[Yes, he has to say the whole thing. And with a cadence that suggests he repeats it in the same way, all the time...]

... Not many s-seem to be... interested in, er, s-studying the fruit here...
zelda_hylia: Of course! (Of course!)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-19 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Now that Zelda has a title, she will promptly latch onto it and never call him anything else ever. And a professor, nonetheless! Her smile widens.]

It's good to meet you, Professor. I noticed that as well, but since you already seemed to have some sort of study ongoing, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

[Robert is actually entirely fine with this - professionalism is something he understands well, or at least better than the first-name-basis everybody tends to use here. Especially when it comes to strangers...]

Ah, w-well... it is not much of a s-study, especially since my... t-tools are severely lacking, and it is... n-not my primary field, but...

[He casts another glance downward at the dissected paopu. The pulp glistens, and the aroma wafting from the fruit is sweet and cloying.]

... These are... n-not any fruit Terra would have...
zelda_hylia: Elegant (Elegant)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-19 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
It's quite alright, it's not as if I'm an expert either. Still, I think that curiosity is a good thing.

[Zelda nods, removing one of her white elbow-length gloves to touch the pulp cautiously.]

We also have nothing like this in Hyrule. The shape is unnaturally perfect.

[While there are starfruit on Terra, they have a drastically different and much-less-perfect shape. It's nothing like this almost-sculpted-looking fruit, shaped as it is by some Malnossian hand.

But Robert has other oddities identified.]

The c-cell structure of... the f-fruit is nothing like I have... e-ever seen either...

... E-Entirely foreign. And... f-far too... regular...

[It's alarming, but after a year in Luceti this stuff doesn't bother him as much as it should.]
zelda_hylia: Surprised (Surprise)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-19 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
You can see its cellular structure? How?

[Zelda was not familiar with microscopes.]
semper_cogitans: (:/)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-02-19 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... [Oh, someone who isn't familiar with microscopes, huh? Well, this idea isn't nearly as strange as it used to be.

Robert indicates the little device next to him, by way of explanation.]

... Th-this is... a microscope. It, er, a-allows for imaging of... very small objects, s-such as cells...

... It is n-nowhere near as powerful as... what I am used to, b-but I am... making do.
zelda_hylia: (!)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-20 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
May I take a look?

[Don't mind Zelda, she loves learning new things. Something this interesting has her all up in Robert's personal space trying to look at that microscope.]
semper_cogitans: (:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-02-21 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's okay - Robert is just happy that someone is so interested!

He scoots aside a little though, mostly so that Zelda can take her place in front of the eyepiece.]

Certainly, if... if you w-wish...

... Use the v-viewing aperture to look at the s-slides - the lenses can be... a-adjusted with the various knobs, here... [And he indicates them, lining the side of the microscope; it's a fairly standard model, something like this.]
zelda_hylia: Curious (Curious)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-23 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Zelda looks into the microscope, having to cover one eye with a hand to focus. She's not used to it, okay?]

Fascinating... with one of these, you could learn so much about how things are composed!
semper_cogitans: (:/)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-02-24 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
[It's fine - not everybody is.

If she manages to get the lens properly focused, she'll be able to see the slide Robert's currently got up - it shows the cell walls of the pulp of the paopu, which has a very... regular spacing to it.]

Ah... you l-lack similar technology, in your w-world...?
zelda_hylia: Hyrule's Princess (Default)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-02-24 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Something I've noticed from observing the journals here is that worlds that have strong magical powers tend to develop technology at a reduced rate.

[She's a clever girl, she can focus it after a little while of trying.]

That is fairly symmetrical, isn't it?

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-02-25 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
[That's an interesting observation. He's just going to mentally file that away now...]

...

Ah... yes, it i-is...

... Unnaturally so.
