There will be a thread for interacting with NPCs, but they may not all go up at once, so keep an eye out for them.

Note: A log for the events in the village will go up on the 21st, in time for the hurricane and droid incursion.

[19th: Kain is one of the fighters who's going on on asteroids, landing and dealing with cultists when needed. He's going to be struggling a lot with his jumping on this initial day, frequently underestimating how much power he has to put into it. But otherwise, he manages well enough, planting explosives where needed, too.]

[20th-21st: All the fighting! Kain's going to be wherever the heaviest battle is raging, be it on the Moon Base or within the city. He noticeably never tags cultists- instead he will always go for the kill.]

[22nd: Trouble with the Dream Shifters! Kain gets himself caught within one of the spheres almost right away as this day's battle commences. To him, it's as if he's returned home to Baron all of a sudden... but surely there's nothing wrong with that? In fact, Rydia is there as well, and she's happily welcoming him home...]

[Grune is a little tired but all set to start another day of doing her best when she comes across an odd sort of sphere. It's very pretty, and she spends a while simply admiring it. But then--my, isn't that Kain? Why isn't he fighting? There's an enemy soldier in with him, but he looks happy.

Something must have happened to him. He might get hurt if he doesn't see the enemy.

And so, without hesitating, Grune steps inside the sphere.]

[Kain glances over, seeing... Grune of all people. Now that's strange. Why would she be here, in Baron? He reaches to take Rydia's hand and nods at Grune in greeting. To him, there appears to be no danger or anything else amiss... just having someone from Luceti here.]

And Grune will be so very confused.

[And that just about breaks her brain entirely. Kain, hand in hand with an enemy soldier? Why would he do that? Is he trying to make friends? But the soldier doesn't look very friendly....]

Kain, what are you doing?

Kain is taking MAKE LOVE NOT WAR to new extremes!

[Kain leans in to kiss Rydia, then, letting her hand go, he turns to write to Grune.]

I should ask that of you... How did you get here?

PFFFFT.

Why, I walked inside. [It wasn't hard at all.

But, more importantly:] We need to go now. We need to go back to protecting everyone.

[She's speaking to him, but all the while, she keeps glancing at the Third Party soldier. They haven't attacked yet, and they didn't mind when Kain kissed them, but....]

Why would Rydia and I want to leave our home?

[He is so baffled by this right now.]

[And now Grune is, too. This isn't his home, of course, and--]

Is Rydia here too?

[She looks about, trying to find her friend.]

[Kain looks at her like she's lost her mind. Grune, that's really... weird of you to say! He gestures toward "Rydia".]

Can you not see her?

[Okay, she's really worried now.]

Kain, that isn't Rydia. That's an enemy!

[She actually goes so far as to take Kain's arm and try to tug him away. Why can't he see what's wrong? He's going to be hurt!]

[Kain gives her a WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT look, as if she's lost her mind. He reaches toward "Rydia", not wanting to be dragged away from her...]

[Grune is going to tug on his arm again, with a surprising amount of firmness for her.]

We're fighting to protect everyone right now. Don't you remember?

[But Rydia! And his home! Something... is off about all of this, though... Kain looks uncertainly between Rydia and Grune.]

21st - this is probably an awful way to have the two thread again

[With the news of the cultists breaking into the moon city, Pao-Lin makes her way over as quickly as possible. It's certainly easier to fight when you don't have to look after others, but ease of combat is less important than protecting innocent people. Though it certainly helps that inside, she doesn't have to worry about weird gravity messing up her acrobatics and weird environments borking her lightnins. So despite the added stakes, she's more at ease fighting in the city, especially when she spots the familiar figure of Kain nearby. With her opponents dealt with for the moment, she goes over to greet him --

-- just in time to see Kain kill off two soldiers in one fell swoop.

Oh. Well.

It's not like this sort of thing is technically a surprise to Pao-Lin. This is war, after all, and certainly not her first draft. But it's just startling and a bit disappointing to see it from someone she knows and respects.]

[Kain is in all out War Mode too, going into the mindset he always takes when on the battlefield. That of a warrior, a soldier of Baron. Once who shows no mercy to his enemies, and destroys all that would threaten any allies. He has plenty of hatred for the Third Party, for a number of reasons. At the moment, he's also pleased that the adjustment to different gravity hasn't been too harsh on his skills. Though over-jumping is still a really annoying issue that he can't seem to shake entirely.]

[For now, he yanks his spear free of the downed enemies with one hard tug, scanning the area for more. That's when he spots Pao-Lin. He looks to her with a nod of greeting.]

[Pao-Lin winces as Kain dislodges his weapon, but she also nods back at him.]

I guess you've got this side pretty much covered, huh?

[Kain nods sternly, feeling very accomplished at the moment. Fighting is what he's trained to do, what has always been his purpose... so being out here makes him feel more himself in ways.]

[He has his cards ready if needed- a smaller set for the battlefield, and gets one out, holding it up.]

How are you faring?

I'm fine. [Tired and achy and grumpy, but she's alive and she's not gravely injured, so.] I'm mostly just worried about the innocent people here.

[Kain nods, actually able to agree to some extent. Some who are drafted do NOT belong out here, but it keeps happening that they get sent out every time. After a moment or so, he locates the card with the response that works for what he wants to say, more or less.]

Protect them.

[Pao-Lin nods with a determined frown. No need to tell her that twice.]

We should check and see if there are any civilians trapped here. [Taking out any Third Party members they run across in the process is, of course, a given.]

[Kain nods agreement with a stern expression. The non-combatants could run into trouble no matter how many precautions they take... and this area has been heavily patrolled by enemies.]

[He points with his spear toward a direction he thinks would be worth covering.]

[Pao-Lin begins walking in the indicated direction, glancing around. There's a lot to take in, in this city, but then again urban environments are what she's used to back home. Urban warfare, on the other hand, is something different, but...she'll adapt.

The vicinity is relatively quiet for a few minutes as she walks, with most of the battle clamor coming from elsewhere. But then Pao-Lin picks up on what sounds like a baby crying from somewhere.]

Hey...do you hear that?

[Kain looks around curiously. He raises his spear defensively and then stands perfectly still so the sound of armor clanking goes quiet and he can concentrate on trying to pick out the sound...]

[Pao-Lin slows her pace, too, glancing around. Slowly, cautiously, she wanders in the direction she thinks it's coming from.]

Hello? Is anybody there?

[The crying becomes muffled, as though being filtered through fabric. Pao-Lin frowns.]

We're here to help you...it's okay now, we'll get you to someplace safe...

[Kain continues along after her, feeling increasingly more wary by the moment. Something isn't right here, still, and he doesn't trust it... so he's becoming even more tensed and ready to fight a potential ambush.]
