Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

What: Movie night on the beach

Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

[Saori was happy to be invited to this. She's recovering from her fall well, and given all the help from Helios, Adele and the others she's gotten through the worst of her weakness. With the power cap back to normal, she's even beginning to feel peppy and cheerful.

Still, she's not doing anything strenuous during the setup, instead just helping lay out dishes and watching others do the heavy lifting. The weather, however, is absolutely perfect. Nothing will spoil this day, not even the whims of the Malnosso.

Throughout the day, she provides music on her shamisen, encouraging the others with her music.]

[Sabriel had been looking for the goddess, ever since she'd helped pull the weakened woman from the forest that day close to when the Kin'Coran's arrived. It was a definite relief to see her recovering so well now that the Shift was over and the strangers were gone.

Following the sound of the sweet music Sabriel pauses to listen to the song until the melody comes to an end, offering a glass of tea to the woman with a small smile.]

That was lovely, Saori.

[Looking up from her instrument, Saori smiles warmly at the audience she'd attracted. Sabriel had indeed earned great favor from her by helping her back to the village. It was embarrassing, but necessary, and she is forever thankful that the young sorceress came to her aid.

With a steady hand, she set down her shamisen and accepted the tea]

Thank you, Sabriel. I love to play, and with such a fine audience I want to play my very best.

You are too kind Saori.

[Sabriel had given her word that she would keep an eye out for the storm over the forest and she had. It had taken some time, and a brief climb up a tree to find the source of the storm but she had...and had come across the very drained Goddess; weakened, but thankfully very much alive.

Taking a seat with her own glass of iced tea she gives the woman a small smile, eyeing the instrument curiously.]

Your instrument has a lovely voice, what's it called?

[windandrain]

[The goddess takes a long sip before answering. She liked Sabriel, for her calm demeanor. She wasn't nearly as sarcastic as so many humans here, and that was refreshing.]

A Shamisen. Its like a guitar.

[A pause]

Do you play any instruments, dear?

Its tone is sweeter than a guitar's.

[Sabriel sips her tea and nods.]

We have a small ensemble of instruments at the College, mainly guitars, clarinets, percussions, a piano that the professors usually use and some other singular instruments for the soloists.

I have a bit of experience with most of them but I prefer the violin.

[windandrain]

Well, instruments in my homeland are a little different than those. We have similar instruments in Japan to what you've learned, but those are all western and therefore foreign to me. I...can't play them.

[She shrugs]

Do you have a violin here? I'd love to hear you play.

The western guitar as you call it, is actually pretty easy once you are familiar with the chords and the locations of the notes along the neck. All that's require afterwards is finger dexterity and a good sense of rhythm.

[Sabriel smiles and shakes her head.]

I only have my tools with me, and I'm afraid I've been out of practice over these last couple of months. But...I suppose I could trade you a song for a song if you don't mind that I sing mine.

[windandrain]

I'd love that. By all means, please do sing. I'm sure you have a beautiful singing voice!

[fleurdesel]

[Once everything is set up, the chairs and tables arranged and the food set out Adele takes to wandering a slow circuit around the prepared area. Playing the part of the hostess has become easier to her the longer she's in the village, it no longer bothers her as much as it had in her own world. She makes a point to greet everyone as they arrive as best she can and wanders over to Saori's side, applauding.]

[Saori looks up and beams at her friend, glad for the applause. She sets down the shamisen and turns to Adele with a wide grin. She's definitely pleased that her pupil was listening]

I'm glad that you liked it, Del-chan. I played that one for you, for taking care of me.

[fleurdesel]

I couldn't very well leave you with no where to stay, Saori.

[She settles next to the storm goddess, looping her arms around her knees.]

[windandrain]

You could've. But you'd have regretted it

[She leaves it unstated that it would've probably killed her]

Do you have any musical requests, or would you like to talk? You appear to have something on your mind my dear.

[fleurdesel]

No I really...couldn't have. I promised that I wouldn't let you come to harm were I able to prevent it, more or less. I keep my promises.

[She shakes off the thought of abandoning Saori, the consequences it would have held.]

I had a request but..I. Am trying to sort out how it is I should phrase something I'd wish to tell someone.

[windandrain]

[Well, if she'd made it through and you broke your promise...she'd have pugged your rug, Adele. And there wasn't any way you could prevent it!]

Its good to know, that you'll be there for me when I need you. I'm sorry if I was troublesome.

[She raises an eyebrow]

State it plainly. That will be best.

[fleurdesel]

Not at all. I've had much more argumentative patients before that I didn't like nearly as much.

[State it plain? State it plain.]

...So I should walk up to Ben and simply tell him that I have romantic feelings for him?

[windandrain]

Oh! Love.

[She stops, strokes her chin delicately, and considers what to say]

Yes. Yes you should. Why haven't you? And who is Ben?

[averybadfeeling]

[It isn't long before the movie is to start, but before it does, Obi-Wan approaches the woman with the instruments. He had thought the idea odd, but looking at her, here, now, he can believe there is something... more, beneath that harmless exterior. Even if it is something he cannot precisely sense.

The playing, at least, was exceptional.]

"Hello, there."

[windandrain]

[Saori looks up at the newcomer with a cheerful smile, setting down her instrument. Hige-san. Adele's romantic interest.]

Good evening.

[averybadfeeling]

"You play beautifully. I could not help admiring it earlier."

[... And then he gets to the significant part.]

"I don't believe I have ever thanked you."

[windandrain]

I appreciate your praise.

[She raises an eye]

Thanked me for what?

[averybadfeeling]

"Your intervention in the matter of Apep. It was you who bound him again, was it not?"

[windandrain]

Ah, yes. It was my doing.

[She nods confidently. She'd do it again in a heartbeat]

Though I don't believe we've met.

[averybadfeeling]

"Indeed not. Obi-Wan Kenobi." [He offers a small bow.] "It is an honor to make your acquaintance."

[windandrain]

Its nice to meet you, Obi-Wan. I am Saori Kimura. [She bows her head gently]

You don't need to thank me. I was only doing my duty.
