Possession Event

Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.

Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

  • Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
  • Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
  • Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
  • Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
  • Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
  • Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
  • Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
  • Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[As cool and hands-off as Cliff kept his policies, there were some things that he just couldn't ignore: foolishness, sketchy inns, and the barest suggestion that his first priority might be in danger. For the moment, and the forseeable future, that was Fayt's safety. The shattering and crash of the glass window was enough incentive for Cliff to stop his current tinkering and stalk over to Fayt's bedroom door. He waited for a tense moment, his sharp hearing trained on what, exactly, might be going on inside...

and he sighed, gently pushing the door open just to confirm what he already expected. Arms crossed, he lingered in the doorway, effectively blocking passage whether he realized it or not.]

    So. It got you too.

[Fayt looks over from where he was tugging on the dark green wings, looking just a little sheepish alongside the mild irritation of the awkward position. This was not the most dignified position to be caught in, with one wing stuck in a window and the other stretched out awkwardly.] Yeah, seems like it.

[Fayt doesn't even notice the way Cliff is blocking the door, so intent is he on trying to get the feathered appendage out of the window it was lodged in. At the very least it didn't seem like the wing was damaged, but he wouldn't deny it was annoying.]
aerialassault: (attention -- i hear ya)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-05-29 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cliff sympathized with Fayt about the uncomfortable (and likely annoying) position. He had a few problems adapting his usual style to the recent additions himself-- tight leather wasn't conducive to comfortable feathers. It took a knife and some creativity to fix that problem.

At least he knew how to repair his clothes, even if he was no artist with a needle and thread.]

Hang on there, this might get tricky.

[Cliff approached and climbed up on the bed to further assess the situation. There was the window, and the wing...

was stuck good. But, he had an idea.]

You'll want to relax and not think too much. That'll just make it trickier. Do you think you can extend it on your own?

[Fayt wasn't even sure how he was going to figure out how to get a shirt on this morning, with wings this big. His immediate focus was on getting his wing out of the window first.

Relax, huh? That was pretty obvious, but he wasn't even that used to the regular, smaller wings.]
I'll try. They moved before, so maybe.... [He focuses on willing the wings to extend, remembering how they'd simply reacted to his desire to stretch, and they do extend.

except that means the one not in the window does, too, and it's snapping into Cliff's face.]

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-05-30 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Cliff lifted a hand to keep the feathers out of his face, but that his only resistance. Anything else would risk breaking that wing, which was an entirely different problem that he didn't want to deal with.]

    Hey--HEY! Stop! Just. Don't move.

[They were going to need a different approach.]

[Fayt freezes, stopping his effort to move almost immediately after that wing smacks Cliff in the face, emerald green feathers ruffling a bit. He looks just a little apologetic, though for some reason he's feeling an odd undercurrent of the barest amusement that he's not sure where it came from. Maybe Cliff's expression....?]

Sorry. Looks like this is going to be tougher than I thought.

[They would all laugh at the situation in hindsight, because everything in it was too absurd to be dealt with otherwise. Breathing deeply to quell his frustration, Cliff gently pushed Fayt's wing out of the way and slipped underneath it. His composure returned.]

Don't be. No one expected this.

[Once more he climbed onto the bed, this time behind Fayt, and braced himself against the wall as he leaned forward to get a different perspective of the problem. He gingerly touched the recolored wing, as if testing it's strength and level of fluidity.]

Alright. [His tone was level, controlled. There was a lesson here.] Let's try this again. I want you to relax yourself here, the shoulders and the wings. Just breath, and try to think of them as another set of arms.

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-05-30 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[This whole place was absurd, but Fayt really couldn't find anything funny at the moment with a wing stuck in the window. He shifts a bit when Cliff touches the wing, the larger ones just as sensitive as the smaller wings had been, then decides against it when the motion just produces more awkward tugging on the wing. Cliff was probably right, he needed to relax.] Alright... I'll try it.

[He closes his eyes and breathes out, taking a few moments to let his body relax. The greater amount of weight on his back was odd, but now that he was fully awake, if he stopped to think about it, it really wasn't that different from the wings this place had already given him. Heavier maybe, but it was still weight in the same place. He could work with this.]
aerialassault: (attention -- i hear ya)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-05-30 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[The difference was plainly visible to Cliff's trained eye. Years of practice heavily ingrained a few skills and habits into his life to such an extent that he didn't even need to think about them. He just knew. A smile settled onto his lips, and he patted Fayt's shoulder.]

    Atta boy.

[He reached a hand out to the wing once more, assessing the length of it and his own reach. It helped him make a few conclusions.]

Now, don't panic. I need you to stay this relaxed. I'm just gonna guide to fully open, and we're going to work past anything that might be catching it while we pull it back inside.

Does that sound like a plan?
    etherealblast: (Standby Healing)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-05-31 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Who's panicking? [He frowns a bit. Uncomfortable, yes, panicking, no. He was a bit worried about getting gashed by the glass though, he'd admit.]

As long as we can get it out of there in one piece, I'll be fine. [He grimaces. He's read and heard enough about damage to the wings to know that wouldn't be pleasant in the least.]
aerialassault: (careful -- overdid it there)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-05-31 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we will alright. [He would make sure of it. The many warnings about how dangerous any kind of wing damage could be wasn't far from his thoughts as he gently tested the range and flexibility of the joints

After a few momenets, Cliff smiled a bit.]

Heh. I think I've got it. Just trust me.

[Using one hand as a base, he guided Fayt upward and into a slightly better position while he used the other to manually extend the joints with the skills of a man who enforced precision in every project that he worked on. From the tips of the wing on down, he folded it just enough to pull into the window...

    And let go.

    Have fun.]
    etherealblast: (pic#5693460)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-02 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[The reaction when the wing is finally brought through the window is almost automatic, the feathers ruffling as the wings flaps twice before tucking themselves close against Fayt's back, much akin to how someone would clutch their arm after it got trapped somewhere uncomfortable. Relaxed he might be, but he doesn't want to get it snagged on something again.

Fayt glances back curiously only a moment later, carefully extending the wing after a few moments focus. There are a few bent feathers and the wing itself does ache a little on personal inspection, but luckily it feels like there aren't any wounds.

More than that, though, it was-]
    This is so weird....

[He reaches out to touch the feathers, marveling slightly. This was definitely more than before.]
aerialassault: (confident -- you gotta deal)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-02 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
    No doubt about that.

[Cliff was relieved that there was no lasting damage to the wing. A few bent up feathers had nothing when compared to strained joints and the inherent delicacy of the limbs. But the change in color, and the changes he had already witnessed around the village, unsettled him.

He ran a hand through his hair.]

...Looks like we're gonna need to work on this too.

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-03 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Considering something this size was doubtlessly going to affect his movement, Cliff was probably right. He runs his fingers through the feathers, smoothing them out and wondering at the feeling of the weight of the wings.

It was definitely going to affect his movement, and as cool as it looked, it was more then a little questionable and unsettling.]
Seems like people aren't having too many problems adjusting from what I saw yesterday, so here's hoping it won't be too difficult to move around.

[He pauses for a moment, before shrugging with a bit of a grin meant to make light of the situation, the wings rising a bit with the movement. Better to roll with the punches here, considering the delicacy of the limbs in question. Either they'd go away on their own, or something else would happen.] It's going to make getting dressed a chore, though.

[He only hoped he'd be able to get through the bedroom door.]

    aerialassault: (thinking -- hmm)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-03 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rolling with the punches was always the best policy, considering all of the madness they faced back home and in this village. In Cliff's opinion, bigger wings were fairly mild compared to some of the things he suspected the Malnosso-- and the world itself-- were capable of.]

You'll probably be able to figure it once you get some more space. These rooms are kinda cramped. [Says the man whose so tall that he's more comfortable in a full sized bed, and the man who shoved said sized bed in his bedroom.]

    But shirts? Uh... scissors?
    etherealblast: (Standby Healing)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-04 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Can I ever get these through the door? [Fayt was viewing it mostly as something of a really cool looking annoyance, given the size of these things. At the very least they weren't physically painful to wake up to... well, besides the obvious accident. He would have expected something like this to hurt somehow.]

And for wings this big? We might as well just cut out the back of the entire shirt. [Maybe a tank top will work better...]
    Edited 2013-06-04 02:29 (UTC)
aerialassault: (thinking -- gimme a sec)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-05 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hold 'em tight and duck, like you're carrying something kinda tall.

[It was his gut responce on this, one that was overlaid with some experience. Being as tall as he is, some of the architecture on other worlds weren't made with a guy like him in mind. He needed to constantly remind himself about doorframes on those trips, unless he wanted a nasty headache later on.]

...man, I wonder how those guy who always have wings this big do it.
    etherealblast: (Blueberries)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-05 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Guess I'll try it. [...Well, Cliff would probably know wouldn't he? Fayt stands again, decidedly not stretching this time, but also pleased to see the wings cooperate with the movement and stay tucked against his back.]

I wouldn't know. Scientifically speaking these things shouldn't even be functional.
    aerialassault: (uncool -- i don't care)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-06 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, scientifically speaking, we shouldn't even be here. [It was a moot argument, but to the point.] Let's just not think too hard on it for now.
    etherealblast: (pic#5693109)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-07 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs at Cliff's comment. It was true, after all.]

I wonder if I can fly with these...
aerialassault: (confident -- you gotta deal)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-07 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the people outside were. It didn't look like they had too hard a time figuring out how to do it either. [He grinned.] That'll be something we figure out too.
    etherealblast: (pic#5245280)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-07 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Gotta admit, it does sound like a nice perk for all of this. [As creepy as it was to have his body altered in his sleep, the idea of flying was pretty appealing.]
aerialassault: (attention -- i hear ya)

    [personal profile] aerialassault 2013-06-07 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
A little too nice in some ways. You think there might be a catch?
    etherealblast: (Blueberries)

    [personal profile] etherealblast 2013-06-08 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's my guess. [He didn't know what exactly, but that was more than likely the case.] We'll find out soon enough.
