What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[Jack lifts his tea with an answering smirk, taking a healthy drink before continuing.]

[Fair enough, he supposes, although these seem like pretty standard scones.]

Well, actually I'm a Commonwealth citizen. I just come from England. But yeah pretty much.

[Folding his hands on the table, Jack gives Pepper his best level face. He then arches his eyebrow, drawling in his best dry, blue-blooded, Oxford dean voice.]

My dear, we at the England table believe in complete honesty. It's simply unfair to expect a foreigner to grasp cricket in a single day.

Well, it's a two-way deal. Would suck for the Sidhe if the restrictions on Cold Iron were suddenly lifted.

And hey, if you want to wander around wearing just an apron, I am not gonna object.

[He grins, utterly unrepentant at the two of them.]

Just consider it turnabout for those times I've had to listen to the two of you while trying to sleep.

[Max has to try hard to not snicker at Jack's reaction to that, hiding his smile behind his hands.]

Yeah, I mean, it would be like asking a newbie to start playing Wimbledon variation Mornington Crescent right off the bat. You have to work up to these things.

Yes. One of them. I understand there are many different... realities. You are from Aselia?

The same. [She bows slightly.] Makie Otono-Tachibana. Ah... just Makie is fine. [Kind of a mouthful.]

Oh, a variety of reasons. Naturally the trade itself persists in many different forms, but the establishments of Yoshiwara as you probably know it are long gone.

Ah. So most likely it's just far more secretive. But yes, I imagine so.

"Okay..." She coughs once and stares deeply into her crystal ball. It's just a prop, but she's gonna give Elizabeth a good show.

Hmm... [ She stares into her ball for a long time, until she starts getting a headache from the light. She rubs her eyes and looks back at her patient fortune tell-ee. ]

I think you will be a great leader, and that many people will follow you!

Hmm. [ Twilight looks into her ball, frowns, and shakes her head. ]

The oracles need more information than that. What are you like now? How would you describe yourself?

It's nice to meet you, too! Actually, the drawing itself is really good. It's just the design I don't care for.

Mmm... secretive is probably the wrong word. People have merely been made to exploit more loopholes. Following the rules of the law while ignoring the spirit of it.

[York and Gloucestershire are recognizable, but this Commonwealth thing is new. Japan steps a little closer to study the maps and frowns. Those don't look like normal maps at all. When he speaks, he's distracted by pouring over the maps to find familiar landmarks.]

My name is Japan. I live in Tokyo-san's prefecture now since that is closest to my boss...

Good lord I-I was joking. [ Oh gods his face is probably so red right now. He will make note not to tease in front of Jack anymore, okay? Okay. ]

And-and there's no need for-for anything like that. [ Aside from all those times shifted, and just even thinking about them makes his face burn even more. But that is not a conversation he is going to get into out in public and not especially in front of Jack of all people. He'll just rub the bridge of his nose and let out a huff. Right subject change is most prudent at this point. ]

S-So how has the, ah, cricket demonstrations been? It's been such a long time since I've played.

[ That gets another pause. ]

I'm... darkness. [ That much she knows for sure. It takes her several seconds to come up with anything else she can say. ] Curious? I suppose... Maybe nice? [ Is she nice? She thinks she's nice, but that might be Twila telling her she's nice. This is a really hard question okay. ]

[Max is on his own explaining the whole commonwealth and border situation. Jack is much more distracted by the introduction, and blinks a few times, wondering if the wing-translation has finally hit a glitch.]

. . . sorry, I could have sworn that you just said that you name is 'Japan.' And that you live in, er. Tokyo. In Japan.

[The second he sees how red Helios is, Jack dissolves into delighted chortling, which breaks shortly into full-blown laughter.]

Oh, God Helios, your face-! [He's practically giggling in his joy, and he's slow to catch his breath, scrubbing at his face and rocking back in his chair.]

Sorry, I live with perverts. This one included. [He jerks his head toward Max, eyes still fixed on Helios, smile still broad.] But we've had a few brave souls, yeah. I didn't know you'd played.

Firebending. Bending is what we call it in my world, anyway. I know people in other places can do something similar.

[He creates a fireball in each hand, holding them out at his sides.]

I'm guessing you haven't seen this before?
