What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[Don can't see Aang from his position amongst the gates, but he can hear these instructions, which only halfway make sense. When the gates start to spin, though, he evades them on reflex. Being a ninja, he's impressively skilled at weaving through the narrow spaces. Being a Turtle with a huge domed shell, it's not exactly easy.]

[Those present for the fair last year might recall seeing this green creature in a pen at the booth, as he sometimes can be seen around the forest or village, usually accompanied by Raine.

The booth will also feature a large map of Aselia, and some examples of the uniqueness between Tethe'alla's former countries and Sylvarant's. There will also be a few samples of artifacts out on the table - vases, tablets, etc - that turned up in the shops at one point on another (and were promptly hoarded by Raine), carefully labeled and on display and - DO NOT TOUCH - explicitly written on a few of them.

Another section is a small representation of the World Tree and an explanation on how mana keeps the world alive.

There will be a few recipes and samples, and Emil will be presenting them, dressed up as the wonder chef. Sheena may also be present, possibly with a few samples of Mizuho culture, or at the very least, tea. There's also a section for the various elemental summon spirits ( (Efreet - Fire, Celsius - Ice, Volt - Lightning, Gnome - Earth, Undine - Water, Sylph - Wind, Shadow - Darkness, Luna and Aska - Light) and the elements they're tied to, and how that balances out the world. (A little ironic considering the recent experiment).

On later dates in the fair (after the 9th or so) Raine will be wearing this costume while at the booth. (as a sidenote, Raine herself won't be around for too long during the earlier days until she's had enough time to recover from the possession, though she'll be overseeing things as needed).]

[ Well, Primrose will bite. She should recognize Layton as a teacher at the school, which she only began attending this month - having only arrived this month. But if he's busy she'll approach either of his associates, whom she might also recognize from classes? ]

I'll take a puzzle, please.

[ That green creature! As always, an animal is a siren song to Prim, and she quickly detours from a path to another booth to go and see this animal, wondering if she might get a chance to either find out what it was or even pet it. It looks friendly, after all...! Strange, certainly, but she's almost getting used to strange there days. ]

Sifu Raine? Oh, that's great, then! Are you thirsty or hungry...? We have some snacks and stuff, or I can go grab you something from somewhere else. Don't work too hard!

[The fun part about the fair is watching people scope an area out for themselves and watching their worlds spring to life. Metaphorically, anyway.

Sometimes when she wanders by the area is empty, but eventually she is lucky enough to walk past it once more when the wind spirit is again adjusting the shells.]

Good afternoon. I've been meaning to catch you.

[For the moment, the green creature seems to be alone in it's small pen near the booth. It also seems a little surprised at the girl's beeline toward him at first, but it calms down once it sees that she's not dangerous. Maybe even something about her reminds him of another blonde that he hasn't seen for a while.]

It's better to start somewhere than do nothing at all, isn't it? [It was more than she would have been able to provide about Auldrant, anyway. Reading about cultures, and actually experiencing and living in them more than just in passing, were completely different things.

She kneels down in front of the display, noticing the white construction in the middle of the others. Pointing to it, she looks up at Eley with eyes full of curiosity.] Would there be anything about this one that sets it apart from the others?

[It's pretty slow around the booth when Kurt comes over and Steve is happy to give the boy some time to look around in silence first. But he can't help but over hear him as he's looking over the Avenger pieces. He hadn't thought to do a sketch of himself so he's the one member missing from those. However Billy had included him-or a version of him-on his roster.]

Captain America is this one right here. [He points to the roster piece, specifically the miniature Captain America piece. It doesn't cross his mind to tell Kurt that he really is Captain America. It's not very often he can hide behind anonymity.]

Steve allows her to look over the pictures in silence, prepared to take any questions that may be thrown his way. Her statement gets him to look up and wander over to where she was standing.

"You're right. These pictures all represent landmarks in New York City. That's where I grew up."

[Goodness, it seems that Aang and his family and friends have outdone themselves from last year's extravaganza. So much to see and experience. Raine spends some time visiting the booths that they have to offer once they're all set up and she's no longer resting, and the diorama does not go missed.]

So much detail... [She picks up the little windup toy of Ikki, studying it before she sets it down to let it wander around the island.]

I'd like to learn the basics!! Or to see you do dancing. If it lets you move like you just did, I think it must be something wonderful.

[ SHE'S FOREVER THRILLED SOMEONE MADE IT THROUGH ON TRY ONE. ]

[Sketches of Billy and Teddy with the other Avengers can be found mixed in with the others.]

It's one position played in a game, yes. The batter position to be precise. Their job is to hit the ball when it's thrown at them with this bat. [He lifts up the bat to give her a better view of it.]

[ Ikki, sadly, is about as good as her grandfather at spotting hidden watchers (see above). She's not aware she's got a spectator, but instead continues to cheerfully shout advice as someone goes through - although they're spun out quickly enough.

Well then.

If Makie waits long enough, Aang will collect the person who'd attempted it, and Ikki will stick around as he goes to collect the next batch, having left his granddaughter with a stick of rock candy in the meantime. While she chews on it for a few seconds, she'll probably go through the gates on her own unless Makie makes herself known...

Although Soren seems to realize someone is nearby, though he can't pinpoint where. ]

A Munchlax...that sounds like "Snorlax"! I learned that one from the pokedex.

[ Although it can't do anything really special, it has the lists transferred to her from Masaomi, and they're fun to read. Though she admittedly reads them less now that she's not being quizzed on them all the time. ] Oh, this is Soren! He's a swellow who was born here. Right, Soren? There's three others who're his siblings, but thy're not swellows.

Maybe you'd have been in the Fire Nation, if you were born in our world!

...Though I haveta say, you'd really prefer the Air Nomads. We're the best one.

[ This is whispered, like a secret - and also fairly joking, although she does prefer her own home. ]

[ Picking up the windup toy of Ikki seems to summon the real-life version - or at least the sight of Raine does, as Ikki will wander back over from another part of their rather sprawling booth. ]

Isn't it great? Asami made the little figures for us; we were just going to make them little foam things before she got here.

It's fantastic. [Though even foam figurines would have been endearing and creative--and the product of hard work.] Everything here is. You should all be very proud of yourselves.

Are we poking bears? We might be poking bears. Or it just might be that Derek is having a hard time equating half of an arts and crafts store on the table with Loki. So he'll come over because...what even, dude?

...That mead looks interesting though. Derek will grab a mug of that and settle on a nearby railing or bench, giving Loki a raised eyebrow.

[Her recent experience with Eferin draw her to the sight of the flames. She promised Ikki she'd stop by, and she'll find the girl in a minute or two, but for now... For now, this is what captivates her.

Clove doesn't say anything. She just stands a decent distance away and stares.]

[Animals!]

[He's not so sure about 'cute', but he's definitely interested. The predatory ones (and the giant, multiple legged bison) take up most of his attention, although once he finds the starfish, he will kneel down and watch it for a little while.]

[Food! GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT or cold, however it is served]

[Food. Interesting food that doesn't quite look like stuff you'd find back home. The fire flakes and dumplings seem to be the most interesting though.

The question is, would his body be able to handle the alien spices? Should we find out?]

Either is good. Excuse him while he creeps and watches.

[Now this? Gets his attention. Although he doesn't have any questions (yet), it's obvious he's curious...and taking mental notes as the girls spar. Might even be a little unnerving with as closely as he's watching those moves; kicks, hits, spins, whatever. He pays attention to all of it with a very intent focus.]
