Summary: The next experiment begins, Naoki takes a turn for the ~~crazy~~ worst—there are too many humans here, after all, and obviously this needs to be fixed. Meanwhile, Isamu shoulders the role of ‘demi-fiend’.
Rating: PG-13

Yeah, you told me. [A half-flicker of a smile.] Thanks, Ted... [But he lowers his head, hands finding their way into his hair.] These last few days...

[She looks at him curiously at that, waiting for him to continue.]

Kushi-san, Sanji, Richard... [He moves a hand to his neck for a moment and shudders.] Allen, Mikage, Kantarou-san...I went after most of them. All of them were different than I remember, other than Kushi-san and Sanji. Isamu saved Kushi-san, but he's different, too.

[Some of those names were familiar, and she frowns at the thought. She pauses hesitantly, unsure, but then she decides to go through with asking anyhow.]

... What happened to them?

They're...fine, I think. Isamu would always find me...he's like me now, stopped me. But Richard, Mikage, Kantarou-san--aren't human anymore. Richard was the one who attacked me first off, testing me, I think. Allen wasn't...really Allen, besides being a girl. It's hard to describe.

[Well, this is one strange experiment. Nothing she hasn't concluded.] This week really needs to be done soon. This isn't fair for anyone.

[Naoki leans his shoulder against hers lightly. Tiredly;] And no more should happen afterward...everyone needs a rest.

You sound like you need it right now. [She shifts for a moment, reaching up to ruffle his hair.]

Mm. I haven't slept for the last few days.

... What?! Why?

I'm afraid what'll happen if I do. If I wake up after, and might only have those memories of my--[Pause.]--other side.

[... Twitch.] You idiot! That's no reason to try killing yourself with lack of sleep.

I...can go without sleep longer than normal people can, anyway.

You're about to reach your limit. [Or that's what she believes.] Besides, you've been into fights too, so... [Brb going try getting you to rest your head on her lap.]

[Naoki only half resists against that because, um, it's kind of--but if Ted's the big brother figure normally, would that make her a big sister figure now...?] Um...I--you don't have to...

[Pushy big sister, yes. Let the real!Ted facepalm somewhere deep in his mind at all of time.] It's fine. Besides, I've nothing better to do today, and you could use the rest.

[He rests his head on her lap very, very slowly, blinking. Sorry, real!Ted, this will probably get awkward afterwards.] Th...thank you.

No problem. Just try to get as much rest as you could, I'll keep watch over you.

...Okay, I'll try not to sleep too... [He doesn't even finish the sentence. Exhaustion wins out over it.]

[WIN! She'll just let him then, and even takes out one of the books in her newly acquired (and sadly not used properly) bookbag so she can read while he sleeps.]

[It'll be a good while before Naoki opens his eyes again. It doesn't make up for days of not sleeping, but it takes the edge off exhaustion. His eyes grow red for a moment, then fade back into yellow.]

[Ted peeks over from her book, having reached the last few pages by now when Naoki stirred.] Had a nice nap?

[He shifts upright with a yawn, rubbing at his eyes.] Mmhm. Thanks.

[She smiles, stretching her legs to keep it from numbing altogether.] Glad I helped. Feeling better at least?

Yeah. I don't feel so tired anymore. [He rises into a crouch, but doesn't stand right away.]
