Spike...files...scrubbed....out. Buffy. I think he's gone.

[ a sad nod. he'll be missed. back home, she won't see him. not again -- she doesn't think. he's in los angeles with angel. unreachable. ]

He's gone. It doesn't understand that -- won't understand that so long he's still the number one robo-priority. Whatever they call it. Just one of the many and extremely valid reasons for scrubbing.

[ if it wasn't for the fact that she is having a rotten, migrainey kind of day, buffy might have been more reassuring. instead she looks at him with a touch of indignation. ] God, no. I was trying to tell you, like, a month ago. That fire died out peacefully. In its sleep. And no neither of us were surprised.

[ she actually feels a little stupid in this closet, so she might move as if to walk out. ] It's not even a desire, Jack. The Buffybot was programmed to say and..do those things.

[The pirate sends an arm across the door, blocking her way.]

No. You? Staying in this closet, Annie. And---sorry. It took me aback, is all...I know it died out. I...believe you.

You can't be serious. [ even though she told him already that it's a good idea, buffy can't quite sit tight with the idea of standing in there herself. ]

[Jack sidles in beside her, shutting the door behind him.] So serious, love. Also. Will the turtle knock, do you think?

[ now they're both in the relative dark of her closet, surrounded by her oh-so-fashionable wardrobe and a hodge podge of medieval weaponry. ]

...On the closet door? Does he even know to check the closet?

[Some sort of mace is tangling in Jack's hair. He pushes it aside.]

Dunno; sad turtle seems to be the polite sort, though, so I'd expect him to do something of that kind. I did mention the closet in my note.

[ she leans lightly against a fine selection of jackets. ]

Ah----just said the closet, actually. You don't think Smart Turtle is smart enough to find us in here? Or I could go and wait for him by the door.

Oh, he's smart. But you're the one who said he's also polite. Not exactly the closet-rifling type, is he?

I'm not staying in the closet. This is ridiculous. You know -- the Buffybot can just break out of here pretty much as easily as I could.

Are. Are staying, and she won't, because she does what Spike tells her, doesn't she.

It, Jack. Not she. And it was made for him. Warren programmed it first.

[ she ain't staying put till this is solved.]

BUFFY! Oi! Stay! [Jack tries to shut the door on her. He is genuinely worried about her walking about like this.]

[And there is a sharp, impatient knock at the front door.]

[ buffy shoulders the door open after him -- she needs to disassociate from the buffybot. after clawing her way out of the grave, its destruction was one of the first things she had seen. surrounded in flames. yanked from heaven, watching yourself burn. she needs it not to be her.

but then there's the knock and it pulls her attention so wholly away from jack sparro. she becomes unanchored. ]

Spike? [ her face brightens -- fake again. ] He must be back. It's very exciting. [ she tries to push past the pirate. ]

[And Jack lets her, demoralized at the sight of Buffy turning back into...whatever this was. Robot, she'd said. All Jack really knew of robots were the Malnosso droids, so that one word wasn't helping describe this to him very well.]

No! It's likely smart turtle, Buffy! Donatello, come to help you!

[Knocking again. If you don't let him in, he'll either break the door down or just go home. He's not sure which, yet.]

[ past the pirate obstacle, the buffybot strides back out into the hall and quickly reaches the door. this she opens with gusto -- grinning outside until...oh, not spike. her programming quickly reminds her that it is daylight. how could it have been spike?

so she puts on a friendly (but not quite as happy) smile for donatello. ]
