Who: [livejournal.com profile] refinedmaestro [livejournal.com profile] consultmybooks [livejournal.com profile] folkloristic, [livejournal.com profile] shadedsunlight, [livejournal.com profile] polishrule, and [livejournal.com profile] readingwishbone
What:A long overdue dinner and a gathering of friends, new and old.
When: Early evening, Wednesday, September 14th
Where: CH 7, kitchen/dining area of floor 4 and maybe 5
Summary: A month ago, Ginia promised Giles, Frederic, and Helios dinner. Now that they're all finally back, and with new friends joining them, it's time to eat!
Rating: PG, PG-13ish if people want to get cuddly.

As discussed, no posting order due to all the people involved. First thread is cooking and set-up, second is for the actual dinner. If you want to do a specific thread (like Helios blowing something up), put any pertinant info in the subject. Timeline is roughly chronological, thread jump at will, and have fun! Prose or action tags are good.

...And let's not set CH7 on fire.

Ginia will have the kitchen to herself for about half an hour before the sound of someone all but tripping their way up the stairs will greet her ears. Amazingly enough, it isn't Helios. It's Giles, carrying an overfull plastic bag in each hand and looking as though he's just run a mile. Which isn't true. He's just run from the library.

Apparently not quite registering Ginia's presence yet, he sets the bag down carefully on the kitchen table and...catches his breath.

Giles takes the water with a thankful nod and downs it more or less in one.

"I, um, I know. But th-the store didn't have any stake, I h-had to wait for some to appear, and, and then there were droids, in the village, a-and I stayed too long in the library in the bargain, and..."

A sigh. "...wasn't certain I was going to make it, honestly."

Poland was just going to set his own meal down in the kitchen for somebody to do what they wanted with. Kielbasa which was easy for him to make and everybody knew Polish sausage. He was allergic to work and this dinner was going to be filled with people he was not so comfortable with. He'd only decided to come because it seemed to mean so much to Frederic.

But as soon as he sees Ginia, he decides to just stare like an idiot before trying to drop the food on the counter and try to make a run for it. Strangers were scary of course.

[identity profile] polishrule.livejournal.com 2011-09-14 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact she picks up the notebook makes him stop from running. Frederic hadn't told him anything about Ginia so he hadn't been expecting that. It doesn't occur to him why she would be talking through this, but he isn't complaining. It's a nice change from people just talking.

But he's relieved she says friend. That means she has no idea what they are then. He only nods.

Unfortunately, if and when Poland does make it back out into the hallway, he'll meet Giles coming up the steps with another, slightly less full bag in his hands.

The ex-Watcher stops dead at the sight of him, eyes going wide. Frederic's angry words still ringing in his ears. Then, in an almost unintelligable rush as his gaze ticked away.

"I'm s-sorry about the other night."

[identity profile] polishrule.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Poland had really just wanted not wanted to run into anybody else at this point which was dumb since he was supposed to have a dinner with these people. But as he sees Giles, he frowns at him. How he'd treated Frederic hadn't made Poland happy. Poland almost wanted to just ignore him and go on ahead until he heard the apology. That hadn't been what he expected.

In an almost nervous way, he nods and sounds irritated. "We were like, really helpful that night..."

Frederic was making the pierogi for the dinner along with some mushroom salad and brought some peach mazurka for dessert. It felt great cooking all of this food from home and sharing it with people he cared for, especially Poland.

As he waits for the food to cook though, he looks around at the others to see how they're doing. He's a bit worried about Poland because of how shy he is around others, but he'll help him have a good time too.

Frederic wasn't the only one keeping an eye on Poland. Their first meeting hadn't exactly been ideal or even pleasant, a fact which was not lost on Frederic's housemate.

On the pretext of bringing over some extra mushrooms that hadn't fit into the stew, Giles takes a stand next to Frederic.

"How is everything?"

[identity profile] refinedmaestro.livejournal.com 2011-09-14 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Frederic turns to look at Giles, still remembering the last time they had spoken before allowing him to be apart of the play. He was still a bit sour about it, but he tried to let it go.

"Everything's fine, though I could ask you the same."

Giles, mostly for necessity's sake, had shoved most of that night into the far recesses of his memory, there hopefully to stay unless triggered by an experiment or angry housemate.

"Bit of a dash back here from the store, but overall things seem to be going quite well."

Since Helios' death penalty, Giles has taken on a bit more of the cooking in the apartment. Not that he minds...cooking is a hobby of his, something he enjoys, something peaceable and relaxing and usually with good results.

But this? This is something else. This is something important to everyone that he's done nothing but get in the way of. So a bit of a mad dash back to the building results, in the end, with his fixings in two straining plastic bags from the Item Shop, having been spooked a bit by the sight of droids on their way to take Jet in for testing.

He arrives in plenty of time. Which is good. Decent English food takes some time to prepare.

One steak and kidney pie, some kedgeree, and a vegetable stew that will probably be more soup than anything, given the time constraints, but will hopefully be tasty. Giles soon settles into the familiar routines of dinner preparation, the only hitch being that they're a bit more than three tonight.

Helios has most of the food he's wanted to prepare done. And by that most of it was done off memory. So it might not have come out as well as planned. Oops. Actually the Gogosi look wonderful, they came out just the way his mother used to make them.

But yes. Have Helios stumbling into the kitchen with a few bags in his hands. And a cook book held precariously between his chin and chest. Most of what's in the bags are ingredients for Chicken white sauce stew.

The cookbook is tugged out from its precarious perch almost as soon as Helios sets foot in the door. Giles idly flips a few pages, smiling faintly.

"This does look nice."
folklorist: (Yes I do agree with that)

[personal profile] folklorist 2011-09-15 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh! Giles. You got here before me." Helios will smile allowing for the other to take that book with a lift of his chin. He'll look over Giles' shoulder for a few brief moments before nodding at Ginia.

"That's fine, no need to rush!" He'd wave you off but his hands are kinda full. He'll go over to the counter and put everything taking out the raw chicken and setting it in the refrigerator to stay fresh.

"It has a lot of good recipes. Chicken white sauce stew. I wasn't sure if it'd be too hot for a stew though." Just muttering to himself don't mind him.

Wishbone had no food to offer anyone, nor was he capable of cooking anything. He thought long and hard about this. What could he offer to people? Besides his general cuteness and charm of course. Then it hit him! It was perfect, and it gave him something to do all day.

He arrives at Ginia's place and finds the door closed. This doesn't stop him though, as he starts scratching wildly at the door until someone opens it.

When the door opens, Wishbone is proudly sitting in front of it with a large bouquet of flowers clutched in his jaws. Some of the older flowers were slightly wilted, but he was still really proud of his bouquet, he had put so much work into it.

...the noise of Wishbone scratching at the door just reaches into Giles' hindbrain and flips a switch. A part of him that's still very much eight years old loves that sound.

That sound would be their new guest.

He peers out of the kitchen, towards Ginia's apartment, and smiles broadly at the sight of the dog. To say nothing of the bright flowers held carefully in Wishbone's jaws.

"Do you have a date you didn't happen to mention?"

[identity profile] readingwishbone.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"A date? I wish." Wishbone said wagging his tail and bounding over to Giles. "I just wanted to give everyone something nice to look at." It wasn't easy for a dog to pick flowers and somewhat arrange them. "Lacking opposable thumbs makes it hard to cook you know." Maybe he could have found a way if he thought hard enough about it, but he figured that the flowers would do.

"What did you bring?"

"Steak and kidney pie. Kedgeree. Vegetable soup. Just rather dull food. But, actually possessing opposable thumbs, it is something I'm in a position to do."

He scratches Wishbone along his spine. "This is wonderful, Wishbone. I'm sure everyone will greatly appreciate it."
