Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

Ah. [Say no more. He's silent for a moment, following her gaze out toward the horizon. After a few beats, he gives a hollow laugh.]

Been one helluva winter, hasn't it.

Rems? You have no idea. [She chuckles, low and only a little rough. Her winter? Hiding. Working with immoral men. Fighting. Dying, even, and then here. One Hell of a winter indeed.]

[He glances over at her from the corner of his eye and gives a wry grin.]

Well, that's what the liquor'll be for. I'll make sure to stock up when we get back in town.

Anything but Scotch. [Tony drank scotch. Preferred it. And she'd like as few reminders of the man as humanly possible once this is over.]

You got it, doc. No Scotch.

...I'm glad you came to check up on me that day, Rems. [She looks over with a half smile. It was nice to have someone she could look after like a sibling here.] Even if you talked me into standing on the roof for two hours.

[He can't help a small smile in return. Not that his family has ever been the best model, but the sentiment is mutual about being something like siblings.]

I prob'ly owe Kurt for bringin' up that chair for you.

I do need to thank him properly for that. I might've had a panic attack without it, sedatives and alcohol or no.

[Kurt's lucky he came through for Adele like that, or Gambit would still be irritated at him for bringing up an entire couch complete with popcorn and blankets while he dragged the atrocity up the stairs.]

Perhaps by then I will not be so anxious while on them. Ben and I are taking steps...baby steps, yes, but still. Steps. To rid myself of this phobia. [She thought back to that morning in the Battledome and winced. Meditation...hadn't suited her well.]

Thank you Rems. [She tucks her arms around her knees and rests her chin on top of them, staring out at the ocean. For some strange reason, it made her feel young again. Nostalgia, most likely.]

Were it not so far from the village I might want to move out here.

[Remy, for his part, just stretches his legs out in front of him, leaning back on his hands. He'd flop back down in the sand again, but sand in feathers is juts a little too odd a sensation when sitting back up.]

It ain't too bad out here. But you gotta point about that commute.

Were there cars or motorcycles it would not be so bad but, then. Well. My workload would double, if not triple. [She huffs a soft laugh, listening to the waves, wings outstretched behind her to feel the wind.]

Wish we had motorcycles here, even so.

[He misses his baby from back home, okay. Programming in a copy of it into the Battle Dome once just didn't cut it.]

I had one, for a short while. Something I helped my father and Remy put together when I was a teenager. They asked me to help because I had such small hands. [She lifts one up and wiggles her fingers, displaying the petite digits.]

[kineticcajun]

[He laughs.] Yeah, I got dragged into it a few times for bein' more nimble than my brother. But las' one I built was my own.

I never rode on my own. My father was afraid for me, but I could ride with him or Remy. It goes without saying that Remy would always let me drive. [She grins.] It's a little like flying, isn't it?

[kineticcajun]

Well, that's one superpower that I ain't ever had for myself, so I'm not too sure. But I t'ink it's as close to flyin' as I'm ever gonna get wit'out bein' in a jet.

[fleurdesel]

I don't think I would, fly. If I had the ability. [She waves a hand over her shoulder at her wings.] I am glad these do not grant us flight. I'd be terrified.

[kineticcajun]

[He glances back at his wings idly, then gives a shrug.] T'ink I'm wit' you there. Not the heights so much, but... that's way too much of a weak spot if you're gonna be up in the air.

Something to keep in mind, though, should the Third Party attempt anything from the air. They are able to use their wings for flight, are they not?

[At that, a bit of Gambit's emotional wall starts to come up. The draft was hardly the first time he's had to attack someone for self-defense. It's not even the first time he's killed anyone. But that doesn't mean he's proud of exploiting that very weakness every chance he got.]

...Oui. They are. An' you're right, they're a big weakness.

...I'm a little too pragmatic and paranoid to worry about fighting honorably Remy. That was beaten out of me- [Literally.] - a few years ago. If it protects my patients, or non-combatants? I will do what I must.

[kineticcajun]

[He shakes his head.]

That ain't it, doc. I'm not exactly known for fightin' fair, either. [Just ask Rogue about the time he almost blew off her hand.] But they're way stronger'n you might expect, even wit' a big glarin' weakness like that.
