Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

"Well there's less speeches, certainly." But there was the pervasive fact that so many people seemed to know him as this great King Arthur. Somehow he felt he didn't quite measure up to their expectations.

[herotypical]

"You had to do the speeches too, huh?"

[arturius]

"And write them too. I liked it better when I only needed to use rousing speeches for the sake of my men. Short and to the point."

[herotypical]

"Wait -- you write yours down? Maybe I should try that out sometime. Does it help?"

[arturius]

"That depends. Are you in the habit of presiding over little rituals and festivities you know nothing about?"

[herotypical]

Her elbow stayed next to his; sitting cozy. Happy.

"Uhm...no. Touché. Anyway -- I'm with you on the rousing speeches. To the point. Short. Hopefully inspiring, if it can be managed. That's my bag, too."

Although one might not ever believe so had they never witnessed one of her speeches.

It would certainly be less cozy once he'd realized what he was doing before. But for now, it was certainly comfortable. He didn't really mind delving into his own life with her. She was like an old friend.

"Your bag. How exactly did you acquire this 'bag' of having to make speeches? Too many drunk patrons?"

[herotypical]

"Buffy the Drink Pourer mostly just has to shout at losers who can't hold their liquor. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though? A little more with the speechifying."

The truth -- whole, complete, not danced around -- tumbled out with surprising ease. Warm simplicity; inspired, perhaps, by the sun. Or the citrus.

"Apparently leadership takes charisma. Who knew?"

He knew about the Slayer part. He didn't know what it meant, beyond the fact he suspected that she went around killing things. The vampire part was new. "And who exactly do you lead if vampires are such a nuisance?"

It wasn't obvious, but it was a jab at the fact she was a slayer of a specific thing. Arthur? Arthur killed all kinds of weird stuff.

"Recently? Other Slayers."

And did she miss the days of just her and the Scoobies? Yes. By times. "But it used to be just me and my..." knights of the round table "crew."

[arturius]

"And vampires are a big enough problem that you need teams of people to take them on?"

[herotypical]

"The whole job description actually reads with 'vampires, demons, and the forces of evil'. But the fang-gang are a big part of it. Sorta like the roaches of the demon world. Get infested once and they just keep on coming back."

[arturius]

"Well I can't say I've ever had to face a vampire. Or even know anything about them." In fact, he'd never heard of them before. Camelot's foes were a bit more fantastical.

[herotypical]

"...Care to learn? I should warn you. It's not really a lesson for polite company."

[arturius]

"I had to eat in the company of a troll once. I think I'll manage."

[herotypical]

"Ew. It wasn't eating babies, was it? The one I met kept asking for babies...but -- well, on the topic of eating babies? Vampires eat...people. But not just the babies. Or it might be more accurate to say that they drink people.

People's blood."

[arturius]

"Creatures of magic, then." He hated those. "Are they powerful?"

[herotypical]

"...Sorta. Ish. I mean -- they're usually more like a slight annoyance. Most of them. But they can do a lot of damage en masse."

[arturius]

"The same as any army, then. Are they difficult to kill?"

[herotypical]

"Slay. Dust. You can't kill what's already dead."

And considering her personal count is somewhere in the thousands? "Not too tough. Stake to the heart, holy water, fire, sunlight. Decapitation works, too."

[arturius]

"Sunlight? They sound downright frightening."

[herotypical]

Buffy boldly leaned forward and prodded the king's forehead.

"And I haven't even told you about the part where their faces go all bumpy."

He leans back into the forehead bump, frowning just a bit at the slight intrusion. But not objecting beyond that. "Bumpy, you say? Sounds awful."

But over Arthur's shoulder, she saw her Captain -- relaxing in a hammock. A friend, only. Surely. Except Captain Sparrow had claimed that he was more. Her curiousity reignited.
