EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY!

Who: Everybody! Everybody!
What: It's a beach! There's fruit! Love in the air! Classy private rooms in the mountains!
When: From sunrise to midnight! (AND IT'S TODAY! FEBRUARY 18th!)
Where: Out on the beach, centered around the teleporter/tunnel exit area. But it feels like July out there! Ain't that just the shit?
Summary: Summary? Why does this need a summary. I said everything up there. And then I'm gonna say even more after this. Why do we need this field? Seriously, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Rating: KEEP IT CLEAN, KIDS. Take your dirty smut to an appointments post!

Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

((No, but seriously guys, look at the mod post, you know what to do. Everything you need is there. Mass log post, remember to tag your characters name here, and do your thing.))

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

... Fun. [That's the simplest way to put it.] E-Essentially, people... in other worlds seem to come to b-beaches and the like to... enjoy it...

... I confess, I am not... c-certain how... perhaps swimming...?
tailasoldastime: (Oh great...)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-03-11 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
... Swimming. [He says this with disappointment. If he wasn't like this, he wouldn't mind swimming at all, but since he is... well, that's just his luck.]
semper_cogitans: (:/)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-03-13 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Robert totally empathizes. Except in his case, it's because of his arms.]

I am certain there are others, th-though...? We could... a-ask...
tailasoldastime: (I'm POUTING)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-03-29 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks at the ground, still grumbling in his disappointment.] Yes... I guess... so...
semper_cogitans: (:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-04-03 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[... Hmm... how to resolve this situation...]

... W-Would you like to... explore a tidal pool with m-me, in the meantime...?
tailasoldastime: (Hrm?)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-04-06 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[He raises his eyebrow.] A... tidal... pool...?
semper_cogitans: (-w-)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-04-15 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It is... a s-small, isolated a-area of water, caught within the shoreline of... an o-ocean, such as this...

... So named because they are... s-sustained by the rising of the t-tides, they... are often full of m-marine life that is uniquely adapted to... that particular n-niche.
tailasoldastime: (Tell me...)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-04-19 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. [While he is not sure if he knows what a "tide" or a "niche" is, Robert has already interested him by saying "marine life".] E... even here?
semper_cogitans: (:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-05-07 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yes... even h-here, in Luceti. The M-Malnosso... may only be imperfect at modelling biospheres, but... they do a-attempt, usually.

[Robert gestures to the shoreline, where there are outcroppings of rock that might hold water.] Let us... try here...
tailasoldastime: (Staaaare)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-05-09 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't quite know what to say to that, but he follows Robert anyway examining the rocks. Having never been near sea water before, this is all new to him.]
semper_cogitans: (:/)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-05-11 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[As Robert approaches the collection of sea-tossed rocks, he carefully picks his way up the side of a particularly promising area.

As he expected, nestled inside - like a little bowl full of clear water - is a tide pool. This particular pool is modest, only a metre or so across, but it still teems with life.

The most notable beings in this particular pool are sea urchins, and sea anemones - as well as the occasional sea star. (Fuuko would be happy!)

Robert simply sits at the edge of the pool, admiringly gazing into the clear water.]

... Lovely...
tailasoldastime: (Shock)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-05-11 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[And as soon as Robert reveals that pool, he immediately has Beast's attention. He has never seen anything like this before, never anything so bright, so colourful... is this really marine "life"? They don't even seem to be moving.

They look so spiky, maybe even fuzzy... he can't help but try to reach out to touch one, just to confirm his guesses...]
semper_cogitans: (O:)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-05-27 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[... Touching a sea urchin is probably not a good idea. Though they're not as dangerous as they might seem, they still hurt when their spines break the skin...

It's not like the sea urchin is going to move, though, so Beast will probably get a finger stabbed.

However, Robert is going to try to intervene.]

B-Beast...! Be careful, th-they are sharp...!
tailasoldastime: (OWWWW)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Indeed, the warning is too late, and Beast gives a large:] YOW! [before stepping back in shock. He is flailing a little while desperately holding onto that one finger which seems to be stinging.] Oww!
semper_cogitans: (D:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-04 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert attempts to support Beast, but he's way too small, and he ends up toppling back a bit and flopping onto the soft sand.]

... Ugh.

[... Whelp.]

... Are you... a-alright, Beast...?
tailasoldastime: (GARRRR)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-05 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Poor Robert, Beast is a little oblivious because he's focusing on the pain. Grr, he's still holding onto it... it's rubbing that helps, right? It seems to be because rubbing is indeed helping. Alright... he thinks he's alright. He thinks.]

That... th-that hurt.
semper_cogitans: (:|a)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-05 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sea urchins can be... u-unpleasant to handle, yes. Luckily, they are... not t-toxic or otherwise dangerous beyond... painful.

[Robert clambers up out of the sand, wiping some of the wet mass off his lab coat before peering over the edge again.]

... If you w-wish to handle something, it may be... e-easier to do so with the sea stars... but I would s-suggest merely observing, if possible. It is less... disturbing to the w-wildlife.
tailasoldastime: (Wince!)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-07 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[D'ohh, he is stupid. Why did he just reach out without thinking? Well at least it hurts less now... he's still rubbing it, but he only needs to do that at the tip now.]

Al... a-alright.
semper_cogitans: (D:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-12 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Robert's expression shifts to a more genuinely-worried one as he studies Beast's fingers.] Do I... need to give you medical attention, B-Beast...? Or are you... s-simply recovering...?
tailasoldastime: (Oh no...)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-13 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Still a bit of cringing, then he sighs and looks at his finger. He is more or less just pinching the tip now.]

I... i-it appears to be getting... better.
semper_cogitans: (:|a)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-13 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay. The scientist visibly relaxes a little at that.]

... Good... I am s-sorry that this was, er, p-part of your introduction to... such f-fascinating marine life...
tailasoldastime: (-.-)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-13 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head.] I was the one who touched. [Stupidly. Robert shouldn't have had to tell him they were sharp.]
semper_cogitans: (:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-13 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert resolves to find one thing that the Beast can touch. Give him a moment to search the pool...

Oh, an unoccupied shell! It's a lovely horse conch shell, a deep orange-brown riddled with a million tiny stripes.

Robert carefully fishes it out of the pool and hands it to the Beast.]

... This... might be m-more enjoyable to hold. It is the shell of... a g-gastropod, an aquatic snail... though the snail n-no longer resides in it.

I am certain there would be... n-no issue in taking it...
tailasoldastime: (Huuh whatwhat?)

[personal profile] tailasoldastime 2012-06-14 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Huh? His eyes widen at the sight of that pretty-looking shell. His paws reach out for it, but - having learned - cautiously hover over the object, seeing if there are any sharp or dangerous spots on it first. Finally, he opens up one paw and very gingerly takes it from Robert, being careful to not touch those maybe-pointy parts with his fingertips.

He lowers his face and raises the shell so they're both on level with each other, searching through the hole to see if there's anything in it. Sure enough, there's nothing.]

Resides... l-like a home?
semper_cogitans: (:>)

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-06-22 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Some species... m-make their homes in the shells of other animals, because their own bodies are... t-too weak on their own. Hermit crabs are... a commonly-cited example...

[Robert smiles gently.] Aquatic snails produce... very b-beautiful shells, I think. This shell would be... a good choice for a p-potential home...
