Summary: It's a wintertime jamboree. Go ice skating. Hand out gifts to those you love. (Or want to prank, as the case may be.) Deal with meddling, creepy elves. Kiss a lot of people. It'll be good. Except for the parts where it'll be awkward. But that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R, I imagine. If you need to play out sexytimes, please either fade to black and take it elsewhere or CLEARLY mark the thread in the subject line. (The former is preferable, but not strictly necessary.)

You... Really?

[He's flattered by the thought that he'd merit so much care and attention, but guilt sneaks in; does he really deserve all that? Maiza's an important guy, he has stuff to do! He frowns and waves his hands in distress.]

I-I didn't mean to put you through any trouble, Maiza!

Trouble?

[He's surprised, but not completely so. He could see what Firo's getting out.]

Don't worry about that, it wasn't any trouble -- it's not as if I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

[He looks at Maiza a moment longer as if to confirm that he's telling the truth. Then he relaxes and smiles.]

Well, if you're sure... Thanks. Again.

[He's been saying that a lot, hasn't he? And at the same time he realizes he hasn't been the best host; he jumps off the couch.]

Hey, do you need anything to eat or drink?

[Calm down Firo. Maiza smiles at him and nods.]

How about a drink? Water will be fine... we can hit up that bar sometime too, if you like the sound of that.

[immamartillo]

[Nope. As he walks to the kitchen to get Maiza's water, he glances over his shoulder, smiling excitedly.]

Of course I like the sound a' that! It's been ages since I went there.

[And it's always better with a friend.]

Then we should go. Perhaps we should avoid going on the day of the holidays to avoid a big crowd, but I don't think we had the chance to drink together in a while.

[He reenters the room, handing Maiza his drink.]

I don't think so either. I'm up for whenever--we still got some time before the big day, right? It gets really packed on the holidays. Nice, but it makes it hard to actually get a drink.

Well at least the folks around here are festive, yeah? How about the day before the Eve? It might be a good day to go.

[He plops down on the couch.]

That sounds good to me. Luke and Czes'll be fine on their own, right?

[He's half joking, those two have already shown they can take care of themselves--they'd probably be offended that Firo was even asking.]

Oh yeah. They're pretty capable kids, and the Professor's probably going to be with them as well.

Great. I can swing by and pick you up sometime that evening, sound good?

[They could just meet each other there, but what's wrong with taking a walk together, too?]

That sounds like a plan. How about sometime between nine and ten?

Works for me.

[In other words, expect him at nine on the dot since he has nothing else to do.]

I think I'll stop by sometime before that to give Czes his present. Maybe tomorrow.

[Firo wants to be there when he opens it.]

[And Maiza would probably be ready by 8:30 because he's not as busy here as he was in NYC. It will all work out.]

I think he'll enjoy that. He acts grown up a lot but kids like Christmas, right?

Most of 'em do. Besides, I bet he's a kid on the inside.

Luke? Not that far inside, I don't think. He gets quite excited when talking about puzzles.

He did seem pretty worked up... But I think he was just mad when I talked to him.

Mad? Why, was something wrong?

...I think I told him puzzles weren't that important or somethin', and it bothered him a bit.

[Or he actively mocked Luke and the kid, like most people, wasn't too pleased about it.]

... I can see why he'd be upset, then.

[What's he gonna do with you, Firo?]

[Do nothing. There is no hope.]

How was I supposed to know he'd get so upset?

[The way Luke was covering the town in puzzles probably should have been an indicator. And Firo had been trying to get a rise out of him, he just didn't think it'd be quite that bad.]

I think it's more that you generally don't make fun of something people enjoy, Firo.

[he's starting to smile now, though. Silly kids.]

[Firo pouts and hunches his shoulders to keep from squirming in discomfort.]

Y-yeah, I guess... I didn't mean for it to be that bad!

[He sighs. Now that it's completely laid out for him he has to admit that he was wrong.]
