Summary: The next experiment begins, Naoki takes a turn for the ~~crazy~~ worst—there are too many humans here, after all, and obviously this needs to be fixed. Meanwhile, Isamu shoulders the role of ‘demi-fiend’.
Rating: PG-13

It looks like it. People are acting weird, but I'm not exactly sure what kind of experiment it is this time. [One guy woke up as a woman, another seemed more hostile, Naoki was having dual-memory problems, Noel has big breasts now, Nu sounds like a valley girl pirate ghost... She definitely can't figure out what's going on.]

[Naoki sinks down slowly to sit, rubbing at his head.] It's like...I've got two of me in here. Like I'm also who I'd be if I'd gone into the Labyrinth. [A beat--] Like alternate realities.

Is that even... [Possible? Well, it's not impossible judging by what's going on with Naoki.] It's strange. How would they remember events here if they remember their worlds differently? [Shouldn't everything be altered?]

[Naoki shakes his head slightly.] I don't know. Maybe it's...like only their memories from home were replaced. [He shifts his knees up to his chest.] I said because...my friend's from an alternate reality of my home. Where I helped him with how he was going to recreate the world. I wonder what I'd be like if I had those memories, too...

That's one pretty insane experiment. [And definitely not so easy to pull. These Malnosso...]

... What do you think you'd be like?

[A nod and a sigh before Naoki rests his chin on his knees.]

Probably...wouldn't care as much about other people. It's a different mindset, after all. Isamu wanted a world of solitude, one where you could make your world around you without any interference from others.

... Huh. I can't imagine you being like that. [She props her arms on her knees, and then rests her chin on her arms.] A world like that gets lonely soon enough.

[A small, rueful smile.] I thought so, too.

[A chuckle.] Well, tell me about your ideal world then?

Ideal? I liked it the way it was. [He glances over.] It wasn't perfect, no place is, but...humans don't have the right to change it just because they're dissatisfied. So I thought.

[Blink. That answer could go two ways, and Ted had to pause and consider what to ask to avoid confronting that other side.] Well, I didn't mean anything bad about it. I was just curious.

[...blink, and a nod.] I know.

[She closes her eyes and leans back, thinking. This could almost pass off as normal, really, if she wasn't so worried about that other personality. Was it going to show again?] Well, I suppose if you're happy with it, then it's a good thing.

Happy...if it worked. It's better than a world of demo--[His eyes flicker for a moment, yellow to red.]--ns were necessary. People couldn't be left in charge anym--[Back to yellow.] ...ngh.

... You know, we're going to have to avoid that word from now on.

[A shaky chuckle.] The 'd' word?

Yes, that one. I swear it's a trigger.

Maybe there are. Triggers, I mean. [Softly:] This is the longest I've been able to stay like this.

[She grins.] I told you, didn't I? I'll keep it longer for you.

Yeah, you told me. [A half-flicker of a smile.] Thanks, Ted... [But he lowers his head, hands finding their way into his hair.] These last few days...

[She looks at him curiously at that, waiting for him to continue.]

Kushi-san, Sanji, Richard... [He moves a hand to his neck for a moment and shudders.] Allen, Mikage, Kantarou-san...I went after most of them. All of them were different than I remember, other than Kushi-san and Sanji. Isamu saved Kushi-san, but he's different, too.

[Some of those names were familiar, and she frowns at the thought. She pauses hesitantly, unsure, but then she decides to go through with asking anyhow.]

... What happened to them?

They're...fine, I think. Isamu would always find me...he's like me now, stopped me. But Richard, Mikage, Kantarou-san--aren't human anymore. Richard was the one who attacked me first off, testing me, I think. Allen wasn't...really Allen, besides being a girl. It's hard to describe.

[Well, this is one strange experiment. Nothing she hasn't concluded.] This week really needs to be done soon. This isn't fair for anyone.
