[ there is some peculiar hesitation happening on her side of the closet. buffy has a fierce sense of willpower and she won't let this moment pass without a fight.

unfortunately, the battle of humanity vs. programming results mostly in a very blank, expressionless face. empty. ]

[Jack hesitates as well, shifting the weight from one foot to the other.] You know, Buffy---when my Annie returns? I'll take very good care of her indeed.

[ sympathy that tries to but doesn't quite reach the eyes. those eyes are too chalk full of optical mechanisms to really hold emotion. ]

[ the buffybot speaks mostly from hardwired experience. she's meant to find that appealing and can only assume others would, too. ] She'll be very grateful. I'm sure she misses you.

[ her arms are still limp at her sides. it's like the parts of her that aren't in use simply go dead. like she forgets they exist. ]

[He can't help the bit of venom on the name "Spike," and begins to close the door. Looking at this version of Buffy is startlingly creepy, even though she is still beautiful. It's like looking at a zombie.]

[ one hand -- straight and still. she holds it out against the door. for a moment, the buffybot seems to forget why she interrupted at all. like it's someone else's interruption and she's left holding the moment. unsure. ]

Do you think he'll be long?

Not long at all, love. [He tries to push that hand down and to her side.] In a trice, he'll walk through that door. Or. Limp. Groin injury and all.

You're going to lock me in a closet? [ blurted, like she figures she won't have time to talk. and even this she reconsiders: ] Actually? Probably for the best.
