Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

It makes up for landing here in the middle of nowhere in the middle of winter, yes. [A soft laugh and she blinks, looking over at the trees.] Some manner of fruit or another. It doesn't seem poisonous.

Well, if it does contain some kind of toxin, it could still take several days for symptoms to appear.

Then we'll have an epidemic on our hands. Still...there is something terribly compelling about them. [A moment's consideration before she's wandering over to one of the trees, leaning up on her toes to snag one of the fruit.]

[He looks at her in alarm.] I don't think you should try it.

It's a fruit, Rett. Not a viper. I'm merely examining it, I won't eat it. [Without any proper alternative she pulls a small knife from her hair and cuts it open, blinking at the aroma.]

[He gazes at it in wary interest. It does smell good and doesn't appear to have any insects living in it, but...]

It seems a little like a peach on the inside.

Just a bit, yes. The color doesn't seem off, but I'm still not certain what has everyone here clamoring to enjoy them.

Perhaps they have some kind of mood-altering effect? [He shrugs, glaring at some passing individual who's taking a bite out of one of the fruits without having washed it first.] ...For goodness' sake, there could be E. coli on there.

...E. Coli on a fruit? I do not think that is something we should worry about Rett. [She lifts a bit of the fruit's flesh to her nose and gives it a sniff.] Not rancid...it smells a little sweet, actually. What do you think? [She offers the blade and fruit out to Willock.]

Some animal could still have come into contact with it and contaminated it. [He leans over to take a whiff.] Yeah, kind of sweet. Maybe a little overripe.

Well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, yes? [Adele shrugs and plucks the fruit off her knife, bringing it to her lips to taste it.]

[He reaches out and snatches the fruit away from her before it touches her lips.]

What are you thinking? We don't know anything about this fruit! I'm not going to let you risk getting sick!

If I'm ill, you can treat me. It's just fruit, I doubt it'll do anything terrible to us.

It could. [He gives her a look of intense disapproval, but when her expression remains unswayed, he reluctantly hands it back to her. Fine, fine.] If you really want to try it, go ask someone who's familiar with it whether it's ever caused illness. And wash it. Please.

Any illness that pertains to fruit is easily cured Rett. We've supplies enough and the only water about is the seawater. There's more danger in washing it there than there is having it plain.

[True--there's not really any clean water on hand here. He sighs, shakes his head, and finally reaches for the fruit himself.]

Well, let me try it first and wait a hour or so. If nothing happens to me, then you can have it.

[And with that, he takes a small bite. He makes a face and tosses the remainder to the ground.]

It's pretty sour, anyway.

If that's what you want, then, go right ahead. [Adele waits, brow quirked. At the commentary and face she shrugs and tosses her share of the fruit as well.] Overripe, then?

[He nods.] Probably. This fruit must have to ripen fast, if this is what Luceti's weather patterns are like this time of year.

I don't think this is normal, to be honest. Such fruits, such trees sprouting up in under a day? Jack said that they weren't here before, and he knows this coast as well as he knows anything else in this place.

Hmm. Then maybe the Malnosso are doing some experiments in horticulture.

[Well, whatever. He'll continue strolling along the beach, then, though after a little while his glance will start flickering to her--her legs, to be exact. He never really noticed how shapely her legs were, though it is far more obvious today now that she's in that knee-length dress. He'll drag his gaze back to her face every time she looks to him, though. It's not polite to stare, especially not at one of his co-workers.]

I wouldn't doubt it. Still I can't help but wonder what there is to that fruit, not everyone can be enjoying them so much if they're as sour as you've said Rett.

[She resumes her earlier walk along the shore, oblivious to the odd glance to her legs. Well toned and lithe, yes, and even shaved out of habit if nothing else.]

[When did she start calling him Rett, anyway? Only Lena used to call him variants of Everett--Archie, thank God, limited his ridiculous nicknames to the likes of 'Willy' and 'Willikins.' Maybe it's thoughts of Lena that get him tracing the slope of Adele's waist and bust with his eyes, too, and not quite pulling his gaze away as fast as he should.]

Yes, yes, I shall wait an hour to ensure you don't vomit yourself to death or suffer some other horrible fruit borne illness. [Adele turns a bit to avoid a deeper swell of the sand and blinks at how Willock is looking at her. That is not an entirely unfamiliar expression, though it seemed more hesitant than what she was accustomed to.]

You seem less interested in the dress and more interested in what's beneath it. [There is no sarcasm, no condemnation in her tone. Just an observation made as she tilts her head to the side and steps closer. Lightly flushed...slight dilation of the pupils. She wets her lips with her tongue before reaching out to take his wrist in her hand to check his pulse.]
