Long Ago In A Distant Land, Akai, the fully functional fonbot, unleashed a fairly standard mod post. But a foolish player kept asking questions and come on, do you really need to know that much? Now everyone wants to play out their ships and get into fruit shenanigans and undo to evil that is AKAI.

OH YEAH! So like, assume there is stands (or you know, beach-appropriate huts) here and there that are stocked up on bathing suits (and curtains you can change behind), stands with beverages, and snacks. Nobody's really operating them, new stuff just gets Shifted there (BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING). The Malnosso are the most considerate bro-ginization ever.

When I'm on my own, I notice things. Memories that are blurred. Details that are missing. Ben told me I was behaving out of character and I didn't listen to him. I really should have...

[She looks back over to Remy and smiles, huffing a soft laugh.] He's been good to me this week Rems. I promise. I'm just worried about after.

[He gives her a calculating look, not even bothering to try to hide that he's trying to determine if that's a Hey That's My Boyfriend Lay Off assurance or a perfectly truthful statement. And then he just shakes his head and rolls onto his back again.] Hm.

You an' me both, doc. This was crossin' a line.

[Manipulating people's minds and memories? He's not amused.]

[At that look, well, she sags a bit and shakes her head.] Fine. He was a bit of an ass during the double date with Alice and Helios but I did surprise him with it. So it was somewhat deserved. This has been...on the one hand it.

It's nice. To feel loved again. It's been a long time. On the other I think in my right mind I would have preferred it be anyone but Tony.

[And that's the part that's making him so unamused. To give people something like this and then have it turn out to be a lie? There's Malnosso tricks, and then there's downright low.]

Not like you could help it. Most of the town had this get the better of 'em.

[He's silent for a moment, struggling against his irritation at the Malnosso.]

...Glad Rusty at least behaved himself for the most part, though.

[Behaved? He did, and very well...just. Well. Remy didn't need to know that detail of this week, and she knew she'd hate herself for it later. She was feeling a little ill about it now, though outwardly composed her wings tuck up tight against her back along her spine. A tell only Tony caught, at least in her memory. Her shift twisted memory.]

[The hard, irritated look in his eyes softens at that. Angry as he is at the Malnosso for this stunt, he's far more concerned about those he cares about than anything else. Ignoring that the sun is going to burn at his eyes for this, he sits up - wings shivering to shake the sand loose because merde that's a weird sensation - and gives her a small, gentle smile.]

'Course I will. I'll even fix us up somethin' to eat if you want.

[It was the warmth in Remy's tone that makes Adele relax. Whatever happens? She has support. She has Rems, she has someone she can trust and depend on for this if nothing else. Turning, she offers Remy a soft twist of a grin.]

I haven't had Cajun cooking in years Rems. If you're offering I will most certainly enjoy it Rems.

[He may not be the most upstanding citizen in this here Luceti, but dammit if Remy doesn't mean to support the people he cares about here. Normally, he'd be a lot more subtle about it, but hell, Adele already knows more about him than everyone else here anyway.]

'Course I'm offerin'. 'Sides, we got Mardi Gras comin' up. Jus' ain't the same wit'out some N'awlins cookin'.

I think the last time I was fortunate enough to enjoy it was...A Mardi Gras ball. [She chuckles.] That was years ago. At least here I won't have to dress up to enjoy it, yes?

Not unless you want to. [He grins.] 'Sides. Last time I went, I wasn't exactly dressed up for it either.

[Although he was also there on business. Blowing up Mardi Gras beads. It's a ton of fun.]

Étouffée and evening gowns do not mix Rems. Trust me. I think I'd rather come dressed comfortably.

[Chuckling, he shakes his head.] You got me there.

[Something has just dawned on him, and it's making him laugh a little harder.]

Second Mardi Gras in six months. If this ain't gonna mess up my mental calendar, nothin' will.

Consider it a sequel to the first. Mardi Gras part two: Return of Mardi Gras. [She motions out over the water as though she were painting a movie's headline.]

Sounds like a B-grade horror movie, doc. [And here he is, just picturing it. Zombies in New Orleans! Mardi Gras zombies, no less.

Adele, what have you done, you've gotten him thinking now.]

T'ink I might be able to get used to Mardi Gras every 6 months, though. This place could use some shakin' up.

...Zombies. It would have to have zombies. Or some other form of undead- and that is terrible. [Adele snorts, shaking her head.] That is something my brother would right, publish, and see made into a movie. He would.

Every six months? Hm. That'd put it at the beginning of August. The weather would be just right for it. If you really want to organize a proper ball or festival I can, unfortunately, offer my knowledge and experience. Why the family had the surgeon arrange such things, I'll never know, but it always fell to me to arrange for the Mardi Gras Ball and gala in my home.

Maybe. Even if it ain't Mardi Gras, we could use some kinda festival to wake people up 'round here. It's way too quiet.

[He would suggest another makeshift firework show, but. Well. No Jubilee takes a lot of the fun out of it. It's not the same without his partner in crime.]

There have been several suggestions about festivals, most posited during the town meeting but they seem more...cultural, rather than celebratory. Something with color, music, dancing- that would be a wonderful way to end the summer.

Was there? Maybe t'ings'll be a li'l more interestin' come summer, then.

[Mischievous grin.]

All else fails, I could always make another sofa go boom. That drew in a pretty good crowd las' time.

[Adele doesn't even bother repressing her shudder.] M'dieu. That THING. If I never see something like it again it will be far, far too soon. I still owe you for removing it from my life permanently.

[Just wait until Son of Sofa, Adele. Just. Wait.] You don't owe me anythin'. Hadn't had a chance to do somethin' like that since I got here. Gets borin', behavin' myself.

[Although he still gets in plenty of destruction in the Battle Dome, but that is nowhere near as satisfying. This is a man who enjoys his mutation a bit too much.]

[She huffs a soft laugh, pleased at that mischievous grin.]

Good. I'll hold you to that. [Despite the mischievous gleam in his eyes, his tone is soft.] Jus' hope whatever it is next time ain't tryin' to eat the socks off your feet.

I think I may be able to fight it off now, with your kind tutelage. I have managed to hit more moving targets with cards and have moved up to small knives for stationary targets. Those are...not going as well, but they are doing better.

Balancin' those is a bit trickier. Can always go for another throwin' practice to help you get it down, though.

[Beat.]

But we might wanna wait for the ice to thaw out a bit firs'.
