Where: All over the village!
Summary: It's a wintertime jamboree. Go ice skating. Hand out gifts to those you love. (Or want to prank, as the case may be.) Deal with meddling, creepy elves. Kiss a lot of people. It'll be good. Except for the parts where it'll be awkward. But that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R, I imagine. If you need to play out sexytimes, please either fade to black and take it elsewhere or CLEARLY mark the thread in the subject line. (The former is preferable, but not strictly necessary.)

Yeah!

[He sees Maiza looking around and jerks his head to the side to indicate the living room couch. He plops down on it and watches his friend intently.]

[Couches are a good place to open presents. He doesn't plop himself down in the same fashion as Firo, but he chooses a seat close to him and sinks into it appreciatively. It's a comfortable couch and it's a nice atmosphere. By the time he sits down he's managed to (neatly) unwrap the paper, and he pulls out what is inside!]

[Firo leans in without thinking as Maiza unwraps the gift. He tried his best to find a new-looking copy of The Wizard of Oz; with everything free in Luceti, it's hard to think of good gift ideas. He bites his lip as he waits for Maiza to say something. The paper's barely off the gift when he gives up.]

So what do you think?

[Maiza usually keeps his face constructed carefully, but for today he breaks it into a big smile and holds the book up, gripped tightly in his hand.]

I remember reading this book when it first came out. Always liked it. Thank you, Firo.

[Mission accomplished! Firo beams like a kid with candy and sits up straighter to keep from bouncing in his seat. Giving presents to friends--and having them like it--is the best part of Christmas.]

I've been wanting to have a book to read anyway. I appreciate it.

[Then he turns to Firo, slightly expectant looking as he glances at the box he handed to Firo.]

Oh!

[Still grinning from Maiza's reaction, Firo turns to the present he received. Being the mature adult he is, he resists the urge to give the box a shake; he goes right to yanking the top off, too quickly to pretend he's not dying to see what's inside. He drops the box top on the sofa beside him, then freezes completely when he sees what's inside. Very carefully, cradling it with both hands, he lifts the watch from the box and holds it up to his face to get a better look.]

...Wow.

[Maiza is no clocksmith, but he tinkered with it as much as he could to get it to move at a proper pace. It wasn't brand new, but he chose one that looked as nice and presentable as possible. At least the glass isn't scratched.]

You like it?

[It could be half smashed and Firo would still love it; the fact it's intact just makes it better.

He stares at the watch a few more ticks of the hands longer before turning to Maiza with a huge smile.]

I-I love it! Thanks, Maiza!

[contaeoro]

[Firo's huge smile makes Maiza's smile stretch wider. He's glad the guy's happy, and reaches over to give him a pat on the shoulder -- not the head. Even if it's his left hand.]

Merry Christmas, Firo.

[immamartillo]

[Firo's too happy to protest his shoulder being patted, or even to notice Maiza's use of his left hand rather than his right.]

Merry Christmas, Maiza.

[He turns back to the watch, handling it gingerly as he tries to balance it on his wrist to clasp it. Afraid of it falling, he holds his other hand over it to keep it in place and glances up at Maiza.]

...Can I put it on?

Of course you can! Why else would I give it to you, huh?

[He sits back and smiles, actually quite excited over Firo's enthusiasm.]

[immamartillo]

I-I don't...

[He blushes, knowing it was silly to ask, but continues to smile as he turns back to his watch. He finds and fastens the clasp around his wrist without fumbling. Now that it's securely fastened, he holds his arm straight out so he can admire the watch better in the light.]

...Did I mention how great this is?

... It looks good on you. [He grins, very pleased with himself and Firo's reaction. The search was definitely worth it, and he's glad he found one with green hands.]

[immamartillo]

You think so?

[He does notice the green hands and wants to ask how the heck Maiza managed to find something like that, but decides he'll leave that mystery chalked up to the magic of Maiza.]

You really know how to pick this stuff out.

[A stroke of luck. Though if Maiza knew how to take apart watches and hadn't come across those green hands, he might've tried to paint them green himself somehow. Still, he's glad he found it and he's glad Firo's enjoying it.]

I went looking quite a few times. I couldn't slack off on a gift for you of all people, after all.

[immamartillo]

You... Really?

[He's flattered by the thought that he'd merit so much care and attention, but guilt sneaks in; does he really deserve all that? Maiza's an important guy, he has stuff to do! He frowns and waves his hands in distress.]

I-I didn't mean to put you through any trouble, Maiza!

Trouble?

[He's surprised, but not completely so. He could see what Firo's getting out.]

Don't worry about that, it wasn't any trouble -- it's not as if I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

[immamartillo]

[He looks at Maiza a moment longer as if to confirm that he's telling the truth. Then he relaxes and smiles.]

Well, if you're sure... Thanks. Again.

[He's been saying that a lot, hasn't he? And at the same time he realizes he hasn't been the best host; he jumps off the couch.]

Hey, do you need anything to eat or drink?

[Calm down Firo. Maiza smiles at him and nods.]

How about a drink? Water will be fine... we can hit up that bar sometime too, if you like the sound of that.

[immamartillo]

[Nope. As he walks to the kitchen to get Maiza's water, he glances over his shoulder, smiling excitedly.]

Of course I like the sound a' that! It's been ages since I went there.

[And it's always better with a friend.]

Then we should go. Perhaps we should avoid going on the day of the holidays to avoid a big crowd, but I don't think we had the chance to drink together in a while.

[immamartillo]

[He reenters the room, handing Maiza his drink.]

I don't think so either. I'm up for whenever--we still got some time before the big day, right? It gets really packed on the holidays. Nice, but it makes it hard to actually get a drink.

Well at least the folks around here are festive, yeah? How about the day before the Eve? It might be a good day to go.

No problem.

[He plops down on the couch.]

That sounds good to me. Luke and Czes'll be fine on their own, right?

[He's half joking, those two have already shown they can take care of themselves--they'd probably be offended that Firo was even asking.]
