Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Law wakes up at midnight, sweating, and feeling something slide into him and push away something else. He hisses quietly, the light level of the room increasing slightly. He can't see it but the black and gold of his feathers is fading away to white. White, until the faint light hits his wings, and the white breaks up into a shimmering, shifting rainbow.

His back hurts. Just a bit.

Law's eyes fall on Itachi and a feeling of absolute indifference passes through him at the same time as a wave of concern for his partner, and his head falls back on the pillow, because... what?

Something's wrong with him. That's obvious.

There's something in him.

Luceti, there is one possessed pirate prowling around. Sitting on rooftops, watching from afar, walking or flying where the mood takes him. Hyt!Law gives no fucks about territory, and no fucks about spirit grudges except Hyt's own. He goes and does what he wants, seemingly some shade of numbly and remotely indifferent to all.

Well except for Itachi. Hyt may give no fucks about the Sona possessed ninja, but Law sure does. Which is turning out to be a real pain for the spirit trying to keep control of a man who has a real problem with this sort of thing. Especially as the pirate has more than enough willpower to be capable of fighting free eventually. Which would make him vulnerable and open to Twila's influence. Hyt won't allow this.

... and given the ninja is sticking with the pirate constantly...

It means being nicer to this Sona possessed host, and allowing the true Law to bleed through more. The water spirit is probably amused unless the ninja is giving her an equally hard time.

It won't let up with any Twila possessed Law knows, though. Hyt has limits after all. Even if it is a dear friend.]

[Law's shifting around wakens Itachi, who slowly raises himself up onto his elbows. He may not really be able to see his partner, but the flickering on of the Sharingan reveals that something's off. Way off.

As for himself, he can tell there's something there too - in the wings, especially, but his attitude so far remains about the same in regards to everything. Itachi appears to be Itachi.]

Law.

[It's not a question, or the need to know the pirate's well being, but a simple acknowledgement that he's awake and aware that something's up.]

Something's inside of me.

[It's forced calm, even as his wings give an agitated flap (and flash). He's not panicked yet, even if it's obvious this is hitting (smashing) some major psychological buttons. He's refusing to panic.

If there's something in him, he has to force it out. And for that he needs to keep it together and stay rational.

Belatedly, he realizes Itachi's Sharingan is on. Which means...]

[The ninja nods his head once in response. He twitches his wings, noticing the size difference as well.]

[Oh, what a shame. He almost sort of liked Law too, in a way.

Loki doesn't care about things such as territory either. Really, he's just looking for something to break.]

Oh Law. I am so terribly sorry.

[Law bristles internally, though his facade is cool. Ugh. Twila possessed at night. Not a great thing, even in the village.]

So am I.

[... though his tone, flat as it is, leaves the question if he's genuinely unhappy or sniping back.]

[He lands nearby, looking rather relaxed and insolent.]

[On the first day, Raine is still herself, and she knows this is familiar - after all, it's even referenced in the guide as happening four years ago.

What she has, however, is a lack of people to discuss the situation with. People to warn properly - most seem to be letting it get to their heads, and she knows from experience that ... sometimes it can't really be avoided.

Law seems to be one of the obvious choices to look for, considering the recent meeting... if she can find him, that is.]

There's Law at one of the tables, nursing a cup of tea and watching the passing traffic through the windows with a distant but fixed expression. Which isn't the only noticeable thing about him. No, there's the great white wings with the rainbow iridescence, and the subtle way he seems brighter than anyone else in the room.

Like he's giving off his own light.

Itachi is likely either with him or nearby. If Raine spots the ninja anywhere, it's obvious he also has been possessed, but with Sona.]

Hello, Miss Raine.

[The tea shop. Raine hadn't expected to see Law there, all told, but it makes tracking him down easier. The nearby ninja won't be difficult to spot either, with such large wings.

And they're far from the only ones by this point.

... Law. Someone got you first, I see. [Someone. Something. It was vaguely jarring, not being possessed. Yet, at least.] Do you feel... in control of yourself at all?

[Well. This certainly is a predicament. Perona was hoping to be able to speak with Law about the issues she's been having, and the new little whispering voice that's been helping her feel a little bit better here and there, but taking one look at him immediately made her eyes narrow viciously. Ah well, it's a pity, but it can't be helped now. She doesn't want scum like that as a friend anyway, but she also can't help fluttering up the rooftop he's on, eyeing him up and down.

It would've been so much better if that other one didn't get her grimy claws in him first, Perona really did like Law very much, he was nice to her a lot, and she even trusted him quite a bit with things she would otherwise not reveal to anyone else. Maybe that's why she retains her manners when addressing him. Somewhat.]

You look so serious, Mr. Law. [Her fingers tap on her parasol and she smiles.] Or are you just unhappy today?

[There's a war going on behind his eyes as they narrow slightly. The only sign of life in an otherwise blank facade.]

There's something unpleasant going around. I'm not feeling well.

[That could be taken a couple of different ways, really.]

[She can tell he's squirming on the inside, she can just feel it, and she relishes in Law's discomfort, even goes so far as to give a breathy giggle at it. No, no, not Law's, the one clinging to him so fiercely. She herself really does want to talk, she needs the company, but the whispering voice in her head has other plans - its rival is holding on to this man awfully tight...why is that?

She doesn't so much as flinch at the veiled insult, and instead leans in to peer at him a little closer.]

Eeh, is that right? Perhaps you should clear your head, Mr. Law. It might do you some good.

[ Tony had a plan he had set into motion, but once he had all the moving parts in place, he wasn't above antagonizing those that didn't belong to Twila - particularly those that belonged to Hyt. Law was no exception. Of course, Tony also owed Law a life debt, and that only made Twila more agitated. So when Tony passes him by on a rooftop, he makes no sign that he even noticed the other man, but Law may notice his shadow start to grow, as well as those of the trees and the house below him.

Clearly, someone wants to establish dominance. ]

[Clearly, you've flown by someone who's having his continuous war with his spirit and is in creeptastic, unblinking, bore a hole right through you stare mode on the outside.

On the inside? It's much less pretty.

So both parties inside Chez Law are pretty damn cranky. Okay, Law is cranky and Hyt has no idea on what to do to get the guy to settle down and stop trying to separate it from himself.

That said, they can multitask. You were trying to grow the shadows? ... haha, cute. Law's just going to stop that in its tracks for the moment with manipulated light.

And you know, open his journal. Maybe there's something good on the telly.]

[ Oh no, he can't just let the snub slip by unnoticed. Both Tony and Twila have their pride to think of. So he stops and doubles back, arms crossed as he lands next to Law. ]

Huh - your team must really be doomed to failure if you're sitting around reading.

[ Flying? There's sure a lot of competition in the skies these days. Ikki's on her glider, while Soren's - well, a bird pokemon. Law is familiar enough (that is, she's met him and is willing to chat) that she'll angle closer, easily maneuvering in the air. ]

Hi, Trafalgar! [ Because ages ago, when she'd first met him, she'd decided to use his first name. ] Your wings look different from Grandpa's and Uncle Sokka's. [ That's mild enough. Ikki herself isn't effected, and is in the sky solely because of her status as an airbender.

Having conversations in midair is okay, right? ]

[They're the best!

Or would be if Law wasn't wondering why there was a little girl suddenly in his airspace. Hi, Ikki. He sees your partner, do you see Law's? He's around.

He gives a little wave while looking blank as a slate and causing the light to sparkle around him.] Mm? [Might be... staring a little bit. Oh. His wings. His prismatic giant wings.] Hyt's work.

[ Ikki hasn't totally spotted Itachi yet. Soren has, but he's also paying more attention.

The light sparkling is sort of drawing up more of her attention. She's seven; sparkly things are pretty awesome. Hyt has the coolest wings so far! ] That's the light one! Right? We learn about them in school.

You're doing really well flying, though! Some people are having more trouble getting used to it. I've seen them!

[Something is wrong with Law, oh yes. Gai can tell that much when he goes in for his transfusion and check-up and encounters... well. The normal Law possesses a considerable amount more emotion than the average brick wall. He also doesn't have those giant white wings, either.]

Suspicious. And now he's wondering if it has to do with those tunnels... the timing doesn't seem like a coincidence to him.]

That's an interesting new fashion statement.

[Referring, of course, to the wings.]

[It's lucky that a deep part of Law remembers and fights to be here, because most of the day he's been roaming and absolutely dismissing his normal obligations. The stare is hollowed out, masking for the moment the eternal war between Law and Hyt.

It feels like fighting himself, really.]

Very trendy. Careful, it's catching. You want to avoid black. It's not in.

That's too bad. It happens to be one of my favorite colors.

[Law has seen his uniform, after all-- black and red, utilitarian and fitting for a group whose name alludes to death.]

I wonder how I somehow managed to miss the announcement.

The 28th, unless another day works better?

[Konan has always been a logical person, but under the influence of Sona, that cold logic has been ramped up to a much higher level than normal. She's been spending more time around bodies of water than normal.

Now and then, though, some of her old self comes through and she begins to check up on the people who matter to her. Itachi and Law are on that list, so when she spots Law on a rooftop, she flies up there and stands a few feet from him.]

Hello, Law.

[Have you ever met someone who is at once entirely creepily vacant looking and at the same time, seemingly painfully and acutely aware?

That's Law right now.]

Hello, Miss Konan. [Blue. Sona.] You and Itachi have the same spirit.

[... too many people are possessed. And yet...? It's rare he meets someone who hates it like himself.]

He should be around here somewhere.

[Itachi alights beside Law soon after this is said, bowing his head to Konan. The connection between them is apparent, though he finds the draw he shares with her and not the pirate a little disturbing.]
