[ The first day or three, Kohan can be found in awesomely awesome places like Thrill Land and Halloween Land, just generally being a tourist and enjoying the attractions.

But from some time during the third day onwards, he becomes a little bit glued to the hip to Ion. So he'll be in places like the Junior Land petting zoo. Though he does convince Ion to come see Thrill Land, but they probably only manage a ride or two before heading back to Junior Land... after a swing by the villa to relax a bit. ]

[After a bit of a rocky start here in Malnosso Land, Ion has started getting the hang of this place. And today, he's definitely enjoying his time with Kohan. Right now, he's skipping on ahead towards the petting zoo -- and then walking back a bit so he's not getting too far ahead of Kohan. He's still not sure why the idea of having him get too far away makes him so anxious.]

[But as soon as he steps foot into the petting zoo, no less than about 10 cheagles suddenly scamper over and start mieuing up at him -- a few even climbing onto him when he kneels down.]

[ Kohan has some experience with cheagles, sort of, but it's not much and not enough to convince him that they don't, like, try to claw out eyeballs or something when you let your guard down, so... seeing the large crowd suddenly gathering about Ion is, to put it simply, kind of frightening. It's enough to make him startle and start to head into the fray himself. ]

Whoa, hey-- Ion?!

[ YOU OKAY IN THERE ]

[He'd probably worry more if he knew they breathe fire, huh?]

[But for Ion's part, he's just laughing, patting a few on the head while two of them start settling on his shoulders.]

They seem so excited about something. I wonder if they were born here or brought from Auldrant?

[Given the fact that they almost seem to recognize him (notably, they aren't paying Kohan nearly as much attention as they are to Ion) the latter seems to be more likely. After all, Mieu was brought to Luceti once before, wasn't he? Who's to say these little guys couldn't be the same?]

[ He really would. ]

They're not... going to cause trouble, or anything, right? They're not dangerous?

Oh, not at all. Cheagles are sacred beasts to the Order of Lorelei. One of my good friends back home was a cheagle.

[He turns back to the cheagles, bringing the two that had climbed into his lap into his arms so he can stand.]

Seeing so many of them here makes me feel nostalgic. We first met after I went into the forest where they all lived... and that's where I met Luke and Tear as well.

[ ... Oh. Kohan doesn't say anything for a moment, but his gaze does go to Ion's face, watching carefully to see his expression. He's not sure how well Ion's been coping with Luke's departure, since they haven't really brought it up since it happened. ]

What makes something like those sacred?

[By all appearances, Ion seemed to be handling it well. It was the same as when Anise and Florian left -- he was sad for a little while, but then just stopped talking about it. Though it's hard to say for sure whether he's actually been able to move on, or if it's just a coping mechanism to deal with the loss.]

[Regardless, he takes the opportunity to turn the conversation around.]

They say that Yulia Jue, the founder of the Order of Lorelei, made a pact with the cheagles and gained their aid long ago. That's why they're considered one of the symbols of the Order. Though I admit I've never looked into the actual details surrounding it myself...

[...one of the cheagles sitting on Ion's shoulder is staring at Kohan intently. Like a cat getting ready to pounce.]

[ Yeah about a third of the way through that Kohan notices that cheagle. Why are you looking at him like that. You're not going to eat him are you. ]

Is that one on your shoulder alright?

Hm? You mean this one--

[As soon as Ion turns to look at the cheagle in question, it hops off of Ion's shoulder and over towards Kohan, clinging to the front of his shirt with a soft "Mieu!"]

[Aww, look, it thought Kohan looked lonely and wanted some cheagle hugs too!]

... Yeah. This one.

[ Kohan reluctantly picks it up and holds it in front of him like a guy who's just been handed a puppy and doesn't know what to do with it.

...

What does he do with it? ]

[The cheagle struggles a bit when he holds it out like that -- in contrast to the way Ion has the two cheagles he's holding cradled in his arms, this was much more uncomfortable!]

Oh, perhaps you shouldn't hold it like that, it doesn't look like it likes--

[Yeah, it's just going to start puffing out little flames towards Kohan -- not enough to actually reach him, but more than enough to be noticeable.]

[ Wait, what is it doing, is it p--that's fire

To his credit, Kohan doesn't drop the thing, or throw it, or do any of those things that instinct dictates he should do when he's holding something that's spitting fire at him.

He instead very calmly squawks in surprise, turns the cheagle around in his hands, and points it in a direction that is towards neither himself nor Ion. ]
