[...oh you troll. Naoki gruuuumbles at him (even if he doesn't mean it, really--like he could) and reaches up to mess up his hair.] Okay, that's enough.

[Ted sticks his tongue out at him for that.] No way, I'm not done yet.

[He smiles a little more sincerely though, less teasingly.] You always look out for me even if you don't need to. You worry about me when I do dumb things. [Like wander off and then return only when the village is destroyed.] You give me a reason to smile when we're together. [He straightens up his hair, or tries to, but his hand just ends up covering part of his own face as he closes his eyes while listing things down.] You don't judge me for who I am.

... [Stop it, Ted. Naoki's heart will go beating right out of his chest. He's not used to hearing things like this, not even now. A flush of red covers his face, eyes slightly wide. He opens and closes his mouth a couple of times, wordlessly. Ted's too good to him, he can't help but think.]

[Ted just continues, because his eyes are closed and he can't see the expression, and he knows he should feel a little more embarrassed saying these things, but he can't feel embarrassed for saying the truth, right?] You look out for everyone, and you don't hesitate to come along if worse comes to worse.

I mean it, when I said you're warm. Like the sun. [And damn he is now feeling the embarrassment and facing away, to hide the flush of his own cheeks. Hopefully the darkness can handle that part.] You make me look forward to another day. You make me want to make sure you have a smile on your face and...

[He finally opens his eyes and looks at him, a bright smile on his face, despite the red tints of his cheeks.] You give me a reason to keep on living.

[...oh. Oh. He shouldn't feel so happy, should he? But he is and he can't help it even as his vision swims a bit. But he's beginning to laugh, even as his breath hitches unsteadily. He's not unhappy. Just the opposite, even as his cheeks are burning.]

Wh-what's all of this...all of a sudden. Ted... [Affection surges through him and he moves forward to hug him around the middle. He's never heard that. Never heard such a nice thing and--he means it, doesn't he? Ted's too honest. It doesn't matter, though, Naoki adores him anyway, sincerely and completely.]

[Ted resist the urge to take back his words, because that was definitely embarrassing and--- if he were honest he wasn't sure why he said them. It just seemed to make sense, when he told Naoki that he should make a list. The hug catches him off guard, and he blinks at the suddenness, before he slowly wraps his arms around him. He supposed, faintly, it had something to do with his earlier thoughts, and he wanted to reaffirm that yes, Naoki is wanted, and Ted had to make sure he knew that.] Told you I'd make a list.

Not fair. You're...too nice to me. [Once he steadies his breathing he's just going to bump and nuzzle his head against Ted's shoulder slightly like an affectionate cat. He's kind of fumbling, unsure how to express this much feeling, the gratitude and warmth. So, instead...] Want...mine?

[Uhh... Considering Naoki's reaction to what he said, Ted idly wonders if hearing what Naoki said would make him react similarly. He feels embarrassed enough already, so...] Depends. How long is it?

...I'll try to shorten it for you. [Naoki loosens his hold on him now, smiling.]

[He grins at that.] Give me your best shot, then.

[...where to begin. Naoki draws in a breath and lifts a hand, beginning to tick off his fingers. He's going to tease him a bit, first.] It's fun to make fun of you too, old man. And to beat you at games-- [Raising a hand after this as though to say 'don't even start to protest'.] --and to tackle you into snowbanks.

[His tone begins to soften and he glances aside.] ...I don't have to think hard when I'm with you. We don't have to do anything in particular and...it's kind of unfair. How quickly the time goes by. [Aaah, so this is what it feels like to be on the giving end of such things. Heh. He's kind of embarrassed already.]

Haha...you indulge me, when I'm being stupid. Knock sense into me when I need it. Tell me when I'm being an idiot. [He pauses for a breath. No. He's not done yet.]

[Spoilsport, he'd totally protest. Oh well. He blinks at the words said though, not exactly embarrassed per se, not like Naoki was a while ago, but there is the obvious surprise on his face at the words. Touched, perhaps, was the right word. He hasn't said anything particularly embarrassing, but it didn't mean he wasn't still listening, just... stunned.]

I...I know I can come to you for anything and you won't judge me for it. I know you'll help me. [He brushes a hand through his hair, pushing it out of his eyes, which are focused off to the side.] I know I can rely on you to keep everything between us just that. You're-- [He pauses, laughs softly.] --the only one I think I could tell anything and everything to...

[Naoki darts a look at his face. A little sheepish, a little shy.] You always manage to cheer me up. Make me happy. No matter what happens. It's hard not to smile around you. And I know I can rely on you...trust you.

I-- [Ffff. Covering his face with a hand. This is the most embarrassing part, as true as it is.]

...I'm lucky to have you. You're...really precious to me, you know...

[D-did he just----]

[HDSJFHDJFHDSFKJ WHO SAYS THOSE KINDS OF THINGS, THOSE ARE---]

[Really really touching and damn it Naoki, you weren't supposed to say such things and...]

... really are an idiot. [And unlike Naoki who hugged him, Ted just looks away and hides his face and damn it he wasn't going to cry or anything he just--- had something in his eye. Yeah.] Saying those kinds of things. [Okay, it was a lot of somethings. Not tears though. Of course not.] What am I supposed to say to that?

Hey, it's not nice to call a guy an idiot after he goes spilling his heart out... [Screw you, Ted. If you won't hug him, he'll hug you, looping his arm around his shoulders and pressing his forehead against his hair. Smiling.] You don't have to say anything. [A beat.] ...and that was the short version. So you know.

It was a few sentences too long. [He whines, not even bothering to mask it, just... damn it not crying not cry--- ah screw it, he's crying. He wasn't sure whether to be happy or to be worried or to--- stupid Luceti. You make it so hard to just enjoy hearing nice things like this. He leans in to the touch, turning his head so that he can bury his face against Naoki's shoulder. He didn't have clothes to absorb the tears, but it's not like he really cared by now.]

I thought it needed all of them. [Naoki pauses at that movement and, when he feels the tears, his eyes widen considerably. When has he--has he ever seen Ted-- A small noise escapes and he closes his eyes, running his hand through Ted's hair on instinct.

He really does adore you, Ted. Maybe you get that now.]

[He gets it a little too much, maybe. He's not saying anything though, just staying there and trying to will the tears down because he is already too old to cry over this, and yet he--- When was the last time he felt like this anyway? This wasn't what he had planned on happening when he woke up and-- urk. Just... going to stay here and attempt wiping away his tears, not looking at him at all.]

[Naoki hadn't exactly planned on spilling out his innermost feelings and thoughts to him when he woke up this morning, either. He makes another sound when he notices he isn't being looked at and scoots closer. Come on. You've seen him cry plenty of times, like he'd care whether you were or not.] Ted? [You aren't mad, are you?]
