I should ask you that. [He reaches over to mess up Naoki's hair a little more.] You should get more sleep.

[He sighs, drowsy still.] I'm okay...you didn't answer my question.

[Damn, he was hoping Naoki wouldn't notice. He ponders keeping quiet for a moment, or at least dance around the topic.] Just a bad dream, really. [He decides to admit. He had a feeling Naoki would sense it anyway.]

[Naoki shifts, focusing eyes on him.] Nightmares...? [Hrmm. Is it because he's here?]

[As if Ted would tell him that. He nods though.] More like memories, really.

[Naoki reaches up then, tugging at the scarf to draw his hand nearer and give Ted's wrist a brief squeeze, meant to comfort.]

[He blinks, then bites his lips to stifle a laugh, amused.] I feel like I'm on a leash now.

[Blinking. Then he ducks his head with a small laugh.] Sorry?

It's fine. [He crawls on over and may just flop on you, really. Gonna try to pin you down so you will go to sleep again.] You need rest.

[There's a low 'oof' from Naoki as he's flopped on, though he only wriggles briefly before settling.] So do you.

Not as much as you. [And he lowers his head and bites back a yawn, still sitting on Naoki, trying to mask it.] You're a growing teen. You gotta beat my height sometime, you know.

Somehow I doubt that... [If that yawn is any indication. He smiles at the words.] I've been trying. I eat tons, y'know, and sleep plenty. Besides...aren't you still growing, too?

Got the advantage though. [He grins.] My body is still technically younger than yours.

[He siiiighs.] I don't have much luck of getting taller than you...unless I get a big growth spurt in the next year or two.

Could happen. I don't even know if I'm getting any taller either.

[Considering...] You should really get some rest too, Ted. [He knows how much nightmares wears one out--especially ones to do with memories.]

[He doesn't look at Naoki, if only because his smile faltered at that. Ah, well... it was hard to go back to sleep now, even if he is tired.] Maybe, yeah.

[Naoki's own expression falters, then seems to grow more resolute.] ...want me to go out on the couch?

No. [He shakes his head, moving around so that he'd be on Naoki's side rather than on top of him.] Don't do that.

But you... [He trails off, rubbing the back of his neck. Ted told him before he didn't like sleeping in the same room as others, and...]

I invited you over. I'm not letting you sleep on the couch when they're a comfy mattress here. [He dismisses the concern, smiling.] Please?

[The concern is not so easily dismissed, y'know. But Naoki can't say no to the please, either, so he's torn. Sigh.] Okay...but just tell me if you want me to go out there. It's not like I mind, either way.

We can just talk then. [He lays back on the bed, looking at the ceiling.] Pass the time until the sun rises.

[Naoki follows his gaze up.] Heh...so much for sleeping, eh. [Not like he minds, though, which is obvious from his tone.]

It's nearly sunrise anyway. A few hours earlier than usual couldn't hurt. [He chuckles.]
