[He pulls him close at that, leaning back on the couch and letting him cry it off. He pauses in his ministrations, moving his other hand up to stroke Naoki's hair instead in comfort.]

[Naoki merely stays where he is, clutching at Ted like he's his lifeline, shaking. He won't lift his head for a while, not until his eyes start hurting and throat burns, where he has to swallow thickly to clear it. The hair-stroking calms him little by little, until the fingers that are gripping at his shirt loosen slightly.]

[Ted lets him take his time, until he's ready to talk, or he's calmed down. It was at times like this he wondered if this place really did try it's best to crush it's residents, rather than help them. He knew he couldn't fully blame the Malnosso, but sometimes he really wanted to just demand them to figure something out already and stop this. It made him feel bad seeing his friends suffer over something he couldn't really do anything about.]

[A long, shuddery exhale and then Naoki subtly turns his face to the side, so one cheek is still pressed to Ted's shoulder but he can go wiping at his face with one arm. He really is in a sorry state. And Ted--Nami was his friend too, wasn't she? He must be hurt about it, too. Unconsciously he shifts his arms, hugging Ted around the waist in a gesture meant to comfort even where he isn't showing that he needs any.]

[That surprised Ted. For a moment, he nearly tensed. Nearly. He was learning to accept the physical affection rather than just hand it after all. He lets Naoki hug him though, wondering if it was because he wanted closer physical comfort or not. He didn't realize that perhaps, he was doing it for Ted, though he would feel embarrassed if he did. After all, Naoki seemed to need it more than he did right now.]

[A moment passes, then a low--] Sorry. [Sorry you have to see me like this. Sorry you're always the one who always has to see me like this.] Nn. Dammit... [He loosens his hold now, pressing the heel of his hand over one eye.]

[He shakes his head at that, ignoring the dampness on his shirt.] Why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything wrong. [At least, as far as he's concerned. He's always welcomed Naoki when he had troubles like this.]

... [Ted would call him an idiot, wouldn't he?] Got...got your shirt wet. [He sniffs a bit.]

[He chuckles at that,geez...] Got plenty of those, you know. [And he mentally chides him for being an idiot, but he doesn't say it out loud for now. Not until he's sure Naoki feels better.]

[A weak smile and then he's rubbing roughly at his face again. He blinks hard, as though to clear away the fact he was crying, before looking at him. Shifting and leaning against him, as though he's tired.]

[Probably not very convincing, but Ted didn't mind and just keeps an arm around his shoulder.] Wanna stay over? Seems like you might need the company. [He knew Isamu and Richard were back there, but considering Naoki ran to him, it probably meant that this was one of those situations where his company might help a little more.]

[Relief washes over him at that and he nods. Naoki's glad that Ted extended the offer and he doesn't have to ask. He is always uncertain about troubling people, no matter how much time passes.] Yes...please.

[He grins, meant to be comforting, ruffling his hair.] Want me to get you anything? A drink. [Or he could just stay here and listen if Naoki wanted that.]

[Naoki leans into the contact slightly before blinking. Giving a shake of his head.] No...no, that's all right. I'm fine. [Well, not fine but...you know what he means.]

[He nods, just pulling him close for that hug.]

[Naoki--the best word to use would be snuggles--shifts into him and leans his head on his shoulder, closing his eyes again. Tiredly, this time. He always feels drained quickly from the grief and anger.]

[Well, they could stay on the couch the whole day and he wouldn't mind, but he idly remembers that if Naoki's staying over, he should at least get one of the spare beds (just in case, you know.) ready.

... He doesn't move though, just laying back and letting him rest. Maybe after Naoki's slept away the fatigue from his emotions earlier.]

[Naoki sinks against him a little more when the tiredness finally begins to take over, breaths quieting and evening out. He's lulled a bit by the sound of his heartbeat, enhanced hearing at work as usual.]

[Well, he's not going anywhere, and seeing as Naoki seemed to be falling asleep, Ted closes his own eyes and decides to rest. It would do them both some good right now, he's certain, especially when the other was this tired, and Ted didn't want to think on events that have transpired. A nap sounds good about now, so long as it's not a full sleep cycle. Nightmares were the last thing he wants Naoki to wake up to.]

[Naoki's comforted (or maybe just tired) enough to drift off, falling in and out of dreams the whole while, indistinct but not unpleasant. Perhaps unlike Ted, he only has nightmares when sleeping alone. It's after an hour or two that he stirs, eyes opening slightly, expression bleary as he blinks. He has to wait a few minutes in order to remember why he's sleeping leaning against Ted and when he does--

Just a sinking feeling. But he swallows it back, shifting to glance up at his friend's face, seeing if he's awake.]

[Ted stirs and, for a moment it almost seemed like he was going to wake up. However, despite it being warmer inside than outside, it was still cold due to the weather, and the movement just makes Ted shift about and almost cling to Naoki instead, intending to get a little more warmth.]

[Oi. What is he, a heater? Not that Naoki is thinking about this. He's busy blinking slightly at the clinging (surprised) before he finds himself smiling despite himself. Oh fine. Leech his warmth if you want, Ted. He doesn't mind.]

[Of course you are. He doesn't wake up until about five minutes later though, squinting for a moment due to the glowing, before he starts blinking owlishly.]

[Naoki will have a rather fond look on his face when Ted does. Downcast mood forgotten for the moment.]

[Once he gets a little more adjusted, he pulls away long enough to rub his eyes properly with the back of his hand.] Had a nice--- [Yawwwn.] nap?
