DOESN'T NEED A CUT. People should know how this works, if not, just follow other people's lead. I'm gonna set up some strategist threads at the top, for the four strategists to use if they want to, otherwise people should start their own threads.

[Saleh makes his way through the battlefield, specifically looking for Kain and Rydia. Only now, the effects of the shifting incompatibility are starting to get to him…slowly. He can feel a slight weakness in his muscles, a feeling of nausea setting it. But he could not let that stop him. If he gave in on the battlefield, it would surely mean the end for him.]

[Yue's purpose is to protect and defend, not to hunt and kill, so he'll be sticking close to the noncombatants and medics, using bow and arrows made of glowing blue energy to pick off enemies from afar. His main strategy is to stay out of range of any Shifters to avoid that complication, but he still flies relatively close to the ground just in case, and is burdened by a mundane bow and arrow case even if he isn't using them.]

[Kennedy has been doing pretty well for someone with no superpowers to speak of. At the moment, he's at the front lines, cutlass drawn, taking enemy after enemy, one at a time, with hardly a glance as to the face or type of enemy as long as it has large wings. This is how he ends up face-to-face with an Elite.

Damn.

Within seconds, he's disarmed, his cutlass lying four yards away. Less than a second later, the Elite's sword slashes him across the ribs, and he's kicked back into the tall grass with the wind knocked out of him. In the split second it takes for the Elite to raise her sword, it occurs to Kennedy, with the same stoic certainty he had nearly two months ago, that he is one heartbeat away from dying and can do exactly nothing about it.]

[He is a non smoker yet he could really use a cigarette at this point. Or a drink.

Or most definately an entire pot of coffee.

Despite his general calm and serene appearance, the continued slight grim set to Trafalgar Law's lips makes it clear how aware he is to how serious things are outside. He puts on a smile when attending to patients (and some of you are becoming rather unsettling repeat customers, and he is becoming more blunt as a result to nail it in that you folks are mortal and you will die if you keep any recklessness up.) and notes that so far, for a war, things are going... well, based on what injuries he's seeing for the most part.

He also notes that, as this is war, this could change at any time. So he continues to treat, rests only when necessary, and keeps his ears open.

He'll be ready for whatever comes in his door.]

[Shadow puts his long range skills to a lot of use throughout much of the battle, tossing out shuriken and a few ninja skeans with deadly accuracy. Occasionally he'll make use of what magic he has too. Going invisible and into stealthy attacking is still one of his regular techniques. When any of the shifters get too close though, he takes to using his blades for a closer range attack.]

[So he was staying with his squad. Really, he is most of the time, but sometimes things happen and he gets pushed apart from them, particularly on these later days where he's needed to hold positions rather than take out shifters.

No doubt they or others are in the area (because what if he fighting for, if not to defend people) but Masaomi Kida is currently a blurr of motion, using the lead pipe in his hand (and indeed, anything else he might pick up from the ground) to beat up the enemy.

Are you one of the ones in the area of him that he is "protecting?" If so, let's rock]

[SO THERE IS A GIANT MECHA UP IN THE THIRD PARTY'S BUSINESS, EH

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE SHEER AMOUNT OF EPIC MANLINESS GOING ON IN THIS HERE THREAD

ONLY THE GREATEST AND MOST GAR OF MASCULINITY IS PERMITTED IN THIS PLACE

........oh and Celty she can probably come too.

Seriously though there is a Big Ass Mecha (http://www.gainax.co.jp/anime/gurren-lagann/img/mecha_r2_c2_f4.jpg) (in case y'all missed it in the dorms) acting as some seriously oversized back-up to the Hunting group, letting the rest of the gang distract the Shifters by making them halt magic and then charging in to Hulk-smash while they can't de-Shift the Ganmen's technology. Piloted by [Bad username or site: dawndigger title= @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: mischiefbreeder title= @ livejournal.com] simultaneously, it's a monster armed with giant drills that is going to break the faces of whoever gets too close, so keeping your distance is probably a good thing.

Thankfully Gurren Lagann is equipped with transmitters, and Simon asked for some headsets in the dorm, so most people in the group should at least have access to one in case they need to call for some back-up of the Giga Drill Breaker sort.

NOW LET US ALL KICK ASS LIKE TRUE MEN.]

Gaangs of the Farmland - Day 2

[personal profile] markofthewise 2011-02-28 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[It's the second day of battle, still early in the morning. So far today has passed with only some minor skirmishes. Right now Sokka is out by the south eastern point of the distro-center to meet with Suki and Katara, so he can pass on enemy movement updates to them. And maybe so he can selfishly check up on them too. It had only been a few hours, but he hadn't seen either one of them since leaving the dorm that morning. For now he'll just stick by the river, hanging near a watermill as he waits for them to show.

What he doesn't know is that this spot isn't as secure as he thought. The Malnosso intel report on enemy movement on this area is sadly out of date.]

[ Their main objective being accomplished doesn't make their part in this battle finished. Chouji's well aware of that, whether he likes it or not, and so he sets out to do his part among the general masses.

The trademarked family jutsus are more likely to be seen at work than anything else, and he'll be putting all his strength into those strikes- the harder the hit, the faster the target dies, the less it hurts them, right? That is his theory upon plucking Third Party members from the sky and using an enlarged hand to tear off both wings at once, at least (he tries not to think of butterflies while he does it).

Never mind all the suspense and worry of waiting before a battle.

He hates this part the most. ]

[And of course his streak of luck would end on the last day starting off with ending up at the wrong drop point.

Asad is definitely not amused by this. But at least it is easy enough to pick out where he should be even from this distance so he can get there as quickly as possible. He'll take out his journal and send a quick message to Sokka so the strategist can be aware of where he was and not waste men looking for him.

And then he will quickly and carefully head towards the distribution center trying to avoid engaging the enemy as much as possible alone. Of course if someone needs help, he's not going to ignore them.]

(ooc: Yes, I plan on him dying from this, but would rather have him go down helping someone else who is in trouble. No plans for who he helps out, so anyone can jump on in here whether he knows your character or not. I suck at planning in advance basically.)

[ dawn's kept her promise to buffy and tried to stay ranged as much as possible. crossbows are kind of her thing, anyway, and she's been doing okay if she doesn't concentrate on how shooting enemies who look like people and don't turn into dust when you get a bolt through the heart kind of makes her feel sick. the sick feeling passes, though, and her aim keeps getting more consistent.

but her perfect hiding spot became a little less perfect when a large group of soldiers came over the next rise, and dawn quickly decided to move on and find somewhere less busy.

which is where she is now; searching for another barn to duck into, sword in hand. ]

[He was doing a bang-up job by the last day; refilled on ammunition, and able to take down the easier third party lackeys, Wolfwood makes his way back toward the defensive post before he gets himself caught up with a Shifter. Well, two, but one of them gets a bullet straight through the temple before he has time to process Wolfwood's presence.

Of course, it's not obvious it's a Shifter until he aims the Punisher, pulls the trigger, and gets an unpleasant click.]

[Grell spends most of his time with the Main Offensive Group, wielding a red chainsaw and...hacking everything and anything apart with more joy than should be allowed to a person. But he can be found just about anywhere when there's a lull in the battle, especially since he's seeking out certain people for sport.]

[ Aether isn't the kind of soldier who goes along with strategies developed by someone else. His fighting style is far too self-reliant, far too much about stealth and brutal efficiency. On the very first day, he slips away from the main group and goes off to seek out the smaller, more easily intimidated enemy groups.

It is on the first day, that his approach is the most consistent. Whenever there is a squad of Third Party soldiers who are distanced from the larger groups, he strikes. A thin bolt of silver charges through the air with a barely audible whistle and one Shifter's eyes suddenly lose their glow right before he slumps to the ground. The initial reaction is usually tension and surprise, which is enough for Aether to send in another shot and create another corpse. It is a slow and methodical style, but it is also safe for him and intimidating enough for the enemies to lose focus.

Once the big guns are down, Aether moves in. If his crossbow bolts are intimidating, his melee fighting style is a complete nightmare. His motions are swift and focused, while his strikes are wide and powerful enough to break bones and send limbs flying through the air. He isn't particularly ethical with what he uses for a weapon, either - be it an ax he brought from the village, a sword he lifted from a downed opponent or even an enemy corpse, he's going to use it. More often than not, he'll also succeed.

Occasionally, he can be found resting near an occasional barn or leaning back on a fence. He looks fairly peaceful then, although the excessive amount of enemy blood on his clothes and the seemingly blank look in his eyes might not promise the best kind of conversation.

Still, it cannot hurt to at least make an attempt at one... right? ]

[It was too much to hope that the battles would be finished on Day 1.

Asbel's first priority was to defend Richard. The man was ill, and yet they expected him to fight? There wasn't much to be done about that, though. Asbel swore to protect Richard no matter what, and if that meant doing it literally, in the heat of battle, then... so be it.
