lucetilogs | Event Log - Love at the Lake

[Having gotten lost near the Western River and lake when she first arrived in Luceti, Adela didn't think that she'd ever be fond of bodies of water that weren't the ocean of her homeland. But, on a still and quiet afternoon with the sun making the water almost sparkle, it paints a beautiful picture that even she can enjoy - especially now that the ice has almost melted along its surface.

She is wearing some of the clothes Bulla has gotten for her - a pale blue cardigan over her sundress and dark blue leggings beneath those, her coat draped across her shoulders as the teenager wanders around the grounds. It's getting warmer, but for Adela - someone far more used to a mildly temperate climate - the chill in the air is still too much for her to completely forgo winter wear.

Early on in the festival Adela can be found near the food stands, trying all sorts of different things and washing it down with dark hot chocolate - though, exactly what kind of hot chocolate is a mystery to all but her. It doesn't stop her from enjoying some of the saltier foods, or even some of the spicier ones - though the visible flinch upon trying something far too sugary for her liking might be an amusing sight.

Later, with yet another mug of hot chocolate, Adela just seats herself at the lake's edge to enjoy the effect of the warm sunset over the water and, eventually, the fireworks to come. With a soft mumble about home under her breath, she sighs and hunches forward, by then feeling more lonely than the girl would like to admit.]

A. Morning to early afternoon

[ The thing about pinwheels is they move when you bat them, and they move in the wind, and basically they're colorful spinny things that are fun to play with, especially for a certain black cat. Cheshire Cat is still sticking to his actual cat form most of the time, save when he's hunting bigger prey, but pinwheels are pretty small so a normal cat he remains in appearance as he enjoys the festival souvenirs in a ... uh... somewhat destructive way.

If he happens to chew up that pinwheel you were wanting to take home.... um... oops? ]

B. Late afternoon into evening

[ But something about the festive air seems to relax Cheshire a bit, and as the day goes on, he slips back into his more humanoid form to investigate the food areas! But he doesn't like fruit or chocolate, and deep frying food confuses him, so mostly he just sits and watches.

And also sometimes chases the harvest sprites, poor things. ]

[It had been a quiet week for Aang, for the most part. No whirlwind love affairs, just a snowball fight. And when he sees the invitation to the festival, he only feels excited for it. He doesn't take the teleporters - rather, he takes Appa there, and he will offer rides to anyone who manages to meet him before he sets off from the front lawn of House 56.

At the festival, the fifteen year old monk will browse around freely, either by himself or with any of his friends. Appa and Momo may also be close at hand. He spends a lot of time collecting souvenirs or at the musical performances, where he may try to sing along. He's also there to see the fireworks and will once again offer Appa for better views of the display.

He will also find himself partaking in some hot chocolate throughout the event - moreso for the taste than for actually feeling cold. Perhaps the plain hot chocolate is making him even friendlier than usual, if that's possible. But brace yourself for horrible pick-up lines if he ends up trying the salted.]

((The warm weather is totally a great reason for going to this festival. It's a nice enough day that he can debut one of his new jackets, letting his navy blue wings show as he strolls around.

He's hoping the event won't be too lame, but he's unprepared for just how commoner it'll be. Little booths with toys and food? This must be exactly how commoners live at home! Earlier on in the festival, Kaoru will probably spend his time around the souvenir stalls, playing with the toys until he gets too bored.

Once he gets bored, it'll be time for going on a food run. Or multiple food runs. He'll try a little bit of pretty much anything, seeking out some of the more spicy food. And as the sun begins to set, he'll try some of the hot cocoa to warm himself up.))

[The week for Fayt had been pretty great, all things considered-- He had projects to work on, had been feeling a lot better without constant training putting him to sleep half the day, and most everyone in the village seemed in a cheerful mood for the most part, especially his recently engaged roommate. There wasn't really any reason not to be cheerful and celebrate.

It's why he's in such good spirits at the lakeside festival, browsing food and souvenir stalls alike, playing games, and chatting well... with anyone. Friends and strangers alike, though the hot chocolate he starts drinking a little while into the day might be helping that along. He ends up trying a little of each flavor being served as time goes by, eventually settling on the spicier, bolder flavored Aztec hot chocolate as his favorite closer to the evening, while he watches the fireworks--

Which he'll probably regret tomorrow. But right now? He's out to enjoy himself as much as possible. And he might try to drag a certain couple he knows to a photo booth...]

[Nagisa will be at the festival from the moment he realizes it's there until he can be found asleep on a table bench.

The excess food? He will be attempting to sample everything. No matter how mundane, sweet, spicy, exotic, or just plain weird the food stall might be, he'll be attempting to order one of just about everything. Where is he putting all this food? Maybe it's going towards running around so much.

Because, oh, he will be doing everything, too. All of the games and activities, definitely collecting (or trying to, at least) one of each souvenir. Which is why there's a backpack with a slowly growing pile that he returns to every so often to load with his latest acquisitions before abandoning to find more.

Woe to any friends he runs into. They're in for probably at least a half hour of company before he can be shaken off.

And once it starts getting chilly with the sun going down? He's more than happy to start sampling cocoa. Whether it's plain, salted caramel, or peppermint, he'll have a cup of something in his hands at all times. The sugar and caffeine there help keep him awake, but he'll crash eventually.]

[It's a pretty big to-do, this thing, and that means Norman drags himself out to see it, at least.

Now, the moment he finds real New York pizza? He is a happy guy. And, of course, it's not a real slice without a bottle of beer to wash it down. That? Is enough to keep him around for a couple of hours, checking things out without actually trying anything, whether it's food or games. Definitely not going anywhere near the souvenirs.

At night? He'll end up with some hot cocoa and might even be tempted to try the Aztec variety, depending on the company he finds.]

[ PARTY HARD.

Okay not really, but he will try his best. The whole dipping things in a chocolate fountain and a lot of the festival games are really cool, and given he came out here with some friends and possibly a more than friends and he's going to live it up. Have fun with everyone. Be mildly fascinated by the little forest sprites. All of that good stuff.

Also fireworks those are awesome too.

Open to all four hot chocolate flavors from anyone theoretically but ask me about the Aztec if it's on the fly. Additionally, with one of his friends he'll end up downing some of the salted one and then make an ass of himself with a lame attempt at pickups. So if you want some of that specifically you can rock it ]

[Oh a festival! Rikku has never been to one, but it doesn't look like it. She finally gets a reason to wear her festival outfit. (Minus the fish.) But that's not all, she can be found just about everywhere. Playing the games, eating, or any other thing that there is to do.

...She might've hadd too much candy, and it really doesn't take spiked hot chocolate to get a hug out of her.]

[Vash doesn't bother taking the teleport. Deciding to enjoy the walk through the woods to get there. Once he's there he'll start looking over all the booths.

Most of the time he'll be trying out all the food that he can. He'll even be walking around sipping on his own cup of plain hot chocolate. In between stuffing his face he'll stand by the lake and people watch. Maybe even listen to some of the droid's music.

At one point in the day he will be trying out the salted caramel hot chocolate. You thought Vash's pickup lines were bad before? They're worse now. He'll be happily walking up to many of the girls to talk to them.] Ahh! Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

I lost the directions to my place, could I have yours?

You must be tired, because you have been running around in my head all day.

Ah! I must be dreaming! Because you're too pretty to be real!

[Jean spends most of the festival stuck to Marco's side - because they're best friends and that's what best friends do. Nothing to see here, keep walking... Has he mentioned that they're best friends?

But he's a strong, independent man who don't need no man, too. (This last part is a lie.) So he'll wander around the lake to see if he can find anyone else worth spending time with, checking out the stalls along the way, pausing to listen to the music. With little reason for anyone to celebrate back home, the festival scene is pretty new to him. Anything that would pass as a "festival" in that shithole pales in comparison to everything there is to see here.

After all of these months in Luceti, he hasn't gotten used to the incredible spread of food - you might run into him boggling over the miracle of deep-fried anything on a stick, or you might find yourself wondering if he's old enough to be enjoying that beer he's got in his hand. Hot chocolate is new to him, so he'll stick with the plain variety...although, he might venture to try the caramel flavor too.]

[Unlike the lovebirds nestled together and enjoying the togetherness, one Norma Beatty is just enjoying the warmth provided by the sudden shift in climate and temperature, and the abundance of food and drink. She looks a little worse for wear - thinner, tired, and a bit dirty and bedraggled - but that's common for one suddenly returned from a month long kidnapping.

Norma's all but stuffing her face with sweets and fruits, and warming her hands and chest with some peppermint hot chocolate, her mind too focused on warming up and feeding herself to care about the whats and hows of this sudden Shift. She doesn't care right now, she just wants to enjoy filling her nearly empty belly and maybe snuggling up with....w-with...hm. Maybe someone. No, definitely someone. She's just in the mood for snuggling all of a sudden.]

[Hilariously, Loki doesn't like hot chocolate in the slightest, though of the available flavors he's most likely to want to try salted caramel. He may very well imbibe on accident, however, or even stumble upon a cache of unsweetened chocolate, which will certainly catch his interest, so don't despair! All flavors are up for grabs.

He'll mostly be wandering around and looking to bother people while Rogue is off doing things with her friends during the day. He might nibble at some other sorts of food and poke around at the games, but none of it really holds his attention.

By night he'll be searching out his lady in time for the fireworks, and it'll be a pleasant evening after, he hopes...]

[Rudy is spending his time enjoying the festival and what it has to offer. Despite the oddly warm weather, he's still wearing a light red jacket. His attention is drawn towards the food stands, especially the chocolate fountain in particular. Kid loves sweets. Rudy won't say no to some wine too, but he's far more interested in the fruits and chocolates. He can also be found at some of the game booths too. In fact, he's rather enjoying the shooting gallery.

Needless to say after a bit of hot chocolate on top of a bit of wine, the kid's a lot more open to conversation tonight. And he's a lot less shy about speaking up too, so don't mind him if he suddenly pipes up with whatever's on his mind at the time.

Afterwards, he can be found off a ways away from the crowd quietly lying in the grass and enjoying the fireworks. That's not to say he'd mind some company, however!]

[Katara is completely caught up in the event, and so doesn't think twice about attending the festival. She's not quite completely caught up in the spirit of the thing, her heart meter set to more-or-less neutral, but all that will change ~~when the fire nation~~ after a few sips of hot chocolate...]

[Rogue enjoys festivals. She takes Loki with her, but at some point they get separated. They'll likely meet back up later. She's most likely to be found listening to the droids play music; maybe if someone is really persuasive she'll get up there and sing with them. Probably not.

At some point, she'll also acquire a banging paper mask. She absolutely adores it, and will slip it on to wear it for at least an hour or so. Heck, maybe she'll even go up to sing if she's wearing the mask. Comic book rules say that no one will recognize her... right?

She's completely unaffected, but some of the food just smells so good... and it is awfully chilly out here. It probably won't be long before she goes for something warm to drink, though her poison of choice is coffee, not hot chocolate. Still, mistakes can be made...]

[Ion has always been a big fan of hot cocoa. Or, you know, at least so long as he's been in Luceti. And with the slight chill in the air, a nice hot cup was the perfect remedy for warming back up! Which goes without saying then that anyone else in the area who looks like they might need warming up will probably get an offer to grab a cup of cocoa together and chat. He'll be giving all types at least one try -- though through a magical coincidence, he just won't learn about the Aztec variety until much later.]

[But once he discovers there's a photo booth, he might just wind up dragging over any and all of his friends to go take some photos together. Because what better thing to make memories with than actual pictures of those happy memories! He can also be found wandering around the many souvenir booths, picking up and looking at the various things there, including the vast array of masks hanging from a few stalls. At some point he winds up choosing one and will be walking around with it for a little while... just hopefully not into anyone, since these things are kind of hard to see out of.]

[By the time the fireworks start, he'll have found a nice spot to sit and watch them ~~probably with his boyfriendo sitting somewhere nearby~~, still sipping on the hot chocolate to keep warm. But once that is over, people might just notice him sneaking off with Kohan to one of those cabins... yeah, someone won't be coming home tonight.]

[Normally, Jade tried to avoid these kinds of affairs. Social events were only useful when there were political advantages to be gained, and no such opportunities truly existed here. Of course, there was one exceptional circumstance driving him, and that was the pestering of Emperor Peony. The usual spiel about needing to get out to see the sights and to help keep him out of trouble. Jade was more invested in the latter than the former.

So Jade skulks around the festival while keeping tabs on the emperor. He will curiously take in most of the displays and only drinks hot chocolate after careful examination which leads him to think it's not contaminated. However, he won't be trying any of the Aztec Hot. The others very well could end up being sampled by him.]

[Luke is excited about his first festival. He doesn't settle down for a while, opting instead to run around and see and taste and play everything.

One might find him hanging around the edge of the crowd with peppermint hot cocoa in his hands. A silly dragon mask on a string hangs around his neck. Alternatively, he might be making faces at the nearest reflective surface, with pinwheels hanging out of his nostrils. Because he saw the opportunity and he took it.

Just before the fireworks start, he bundles up in a blanket and lays back to watch, idly blowing into a pinwheel. There's a basket of food nearby, but he's too full from earlier to do more than pick at it.]

[ Natalia can be seen enjoying herself throughout the day during the festival. Looking at all the souvenirs, tasting some food, and watching the little Harvest Sprites too like the Curious Princess she is.

She does settle down every once and a while with a small sample of Hot Chocolate. It would be any kind but the Aztec one.

When the fireworks start you can find her settled down with some Peppermint Hot Chocolate (the best kind when there are people you can snuggle with during firstworks) where you can clearly see the sky for a while so feel free to stop on by then. ]

[Ginia can be found most of the day at the festival. Sampling food, watching the Harvest Sprites, watching the musical performances and knowing she can play piano better than those droids. She'll also be trying out some of the games. They may be rigged in classic fairground style, but knowing the tricks and having patience is the trick to winning a few prizes.

She'll be quick to foist prizes off onto other people, especially when her hands get a little full. And with the sweet tooth she has, Ginia can be found wandering around the festival grounds with hot chocolate.

Before the fireworks start up, Ginia will head toward the teleporters. Feel free to catch her before she leaves though.]

[A festival by the lake? It's an exciting idea for Rue, who's never been to anything like a festival - the ceremonies for the games don't count. She'll be a bit wide-eyed as she looks around at everything, easily getting into the swing of the festive atmosphere.

Expect to see Rue running all over the festival as she samples all the food available, enjoys the musical performances, and tries her hand at the various games. She'll be drinking plain hot chocolate now and then, but as friendly as Rue is, there's not much of a change.

Before the fireworks start up, Rue will head home. Even if the fireworks are a beautiful sight, the sound and sight still reminds her too much of the celebrations for the Hunger Games and the cannons in the arena.]

[Ooh, a festival! Revy actually really likes this sort of thing, but her life doesn't make it easy for her to check that shit out. The American-style festival food is damn delicious, and of course she's sampling the beer and wine as well. When she's not doing that, she's kicking ass at a shooting game, because she's the goddamn Two-Hand. (Yes, she's dual-wielding at the game. No, she doesn't care if the sprites protest this or not.) She might be playing other games, too, depending on the game.

The hot chocolate, though, she's a little more reserved on. Having stuffed her face with other things beforehand, she really can only stomach a little bit of the drink. So she'll be limited to plain hot chocolate if she does end up partaking in it.]
